My copy of the first editon of ICONS magazine arrived in the mail yesterday. It is nearly a year late but I must say it looks phenomial. A large chunk of the articles are devoted to Bogart and there are many personal pictures. This "Collector's Issue" was sent to charter subscribers and numbered out of 250. Mine is #36. The cover is signed, over an embossed gold sticker, by Bogie and Bacall's son Stephen. He is the president of the company publishing ICONS.
I have yet to really read much of the articles since there are so many (109 pages on thick, glossy paper) but it looks more in-depth than what you would expect from a magazine. I love that they will only cover movies, stars, and Hollywood styles, from the 1920s until 1960. There is even a monthly column devoted to silents.
Hopefully, the next issue will follow soon. The first issue should be on newstands in a few months.
I really was peeved it took so long for publication ( I even kept asking for my money back) but it looks like ICONS may be a welcome companion to CLASSIC STYLE.
