I've been looking to get a goatskin jacket for a while. Also very into Grizzly jackets so it was only natural to buy this one from the sale at Himel.

I posted the pictures on the Himel thread but not sure if you guys understood that I actually bought it. I was worried about the hip measurements because I prefer a snug fit but hopefully there won't be any problem with the fit. It's nice to see that Dave adds all the important measurements to the jacket page.

Won't be able to wear it until October maybe unfortunately once it arrives.

Not bad for £30! Good for early summer morning starts, that’s for sure!

The quality is top-notch. As far as I can tell, this one has been locked away in an army surplus cupboard for 64 years before being dragged out. It was quite badly creased, nothing a decent press couldn't fix, and a faint mothball smell, but apart from that it's good as new! I haven't really caught the colour properly, it's a lot closer to an olive green with a mustard lining.

It's gotta be the coolest army jacket I've ever seen. Just everything about it is perfect. The belt, collar, lapels, cuffs and the pockets... Just right. Looks very warm. I'll try to hunt one down. Repro, if nothing else. Sloan, could you post the measurements of the one you got? I'm curious just how short it is.

Back is 21". There are loads of them kicking about in various states of use and price. I just happened on this one after finding a company that was making denim repros for 5x the price! I think you'd want a size 12, but bear in mind that they are Irvin-esque in length.

Is that the Montgomery jacket? I've always wondered if the "Ike" came first or the "Monty." I really like the belt on that one.

This one is a bit more slim but I'm putting a fork in the suede rancher. The Sherpa on this one is insanely thick. I'm done. Giving one to my brother in law and moving on. To what, I have no idea.

May not be right area to post but here goes. The seller of the Cal Leather has not responded to my return request. If he doesn’t, and I doubt he will given the condition of the jacket he sent, what is likely to happen. eBay will side with me, I have photos, but do I still send jacket, or can I ritualistically and cathartically burn it. Lol. I put it in garage and the odor took over a rather large garage, even with a wall mounted fan pushing air out 24/7.

All you have to do is claim not as described. eBay will provide you with a return label. As soon as it's marked delivered to the senders address eBay automatically credits your account. Just keep an eye on the tracking so you know when it's been returned.

To what indeed. Absolutely perfect jacket. Wait till the weather gets bad, that's when you truly learn to love these.

The Ike came in 43 as his personal modification then became official issue in 44 i believe. Not sure when Montgomery’s shorty came about.
