The clearest example for me was a Belstaff jacket, called the Blaster. When it was released I thought it looked ghastly, a horrible hotch potch of gimmicky mutations to their standard Trialmaster style.
Here's one:
And yet somehow, over the intervening years, I have become smitten with all the things that initially made me dislike the showyoffyness of it: the pocket on the back, the awkward single chest pocket, the deliberate contrasting material of the belt and shoulder patch.
I now have eBay alerts set up to ping whenever one is listed, and I live in hope that one day there'll be one in my size that I can afford.
Good example- Thanks. These 3/4 type jackets had no appeal to me originally but now I am warming to them- Maybe something in brown leather?
