How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

I’m waiting on a sample from Greg. I love Himel’s oil tanned Shinki, so I hope it’s comparable!

I honestly can barely tell the difference. In fact I’d say it’s the same leather.

I know this is a terrible photo ... my black oil tanned Himel with two samples from FL. Full black aniline Shinki (large piece), black pony (small piece).

I would say so as well. That looks so good. Is the black shinki pony dyed all the way through?

Many thanks @Mysteryo for sharing the Vinted link. I finally couldn't resist as IMO this The Flat Head jacket looks super cool and is brand new. The thick mouton collar is detachable and the lining is rather thick according to the seller. I hope the stitching is better than on the one posted by @Monitor but on the other hand my deerskin TFH jacket I sold last year had nice stitching and overall quality was quite nice.

The seller from France was very helpful and answered all my questions regarding size and sent me many measurement pics. After a friendly phone call with this passionate jacket collector during Lunch break we finally made the deal. Normally it should fit me well...but let's see middle/end of next week.

Nice, congrats. Indeed a very cool jacket.

You do know that's the same jacket right?

Maybe we have a different view on stitch quality, or maybe (probably) I'm a stitch counter. But the stitching on the handwarmer pockets of the deerskin jacket looked pretty sloppy to me.

Robbie, if you're referring about the TFL Classifieds link I posted, like I said, it is the SAME jacket. You're getting the jacket from that TFL listing; Not the same style but that very same jacket.

And not only that, the seller seemed to have CUT OFF SIDE LACES from the jacket that you bought!!! If this particular alteration hasn't been fully disclosed to you, I suggest you immediately ask for a refund!!!

Thanks @Marc mndt Thanks for your feedback! Honestly speaking I didn't notice that on my former The Flat Head jacket and stitching quality of TFH is compareable with RMC....in other words both are not flawless. On the other hand I really like this cross zip and I don't know a maker who can make me one for this price as it's new (OK probably Aero pre-Brexit but now with 25% import fees no longer).

@Monitor Many thanks. The seller is a nice guy and he told me prior to buying that he didn't like the side laces and therefore contacted a professional leather tailer who modified it for him. As I don't care much about laces or no laces (I already have two jackets with laces) for this jacket, I'm really fine with it and I really hope that it fits and looks good. Fingers crossed. He said that he bought it brand new but preferred other jackets like RMC J23 (also with mouton collar).

Ok but you know you're buying a botched up jacket right? (Resale value might not be that high)

Edit: nevermind I didn't read the above post ^^

Who says that the jacket is botched? I can't really see it on the pics. The seller is picky with his jackets and chose a specialist who can deal with these alterations. Maybe you're right, maybe not - I hope not. We'll see next week.

All good if you personally don't mind that the side laces have been removed but of course it is botched because this is a serious alteration that's been done to a very expensive jacket and if it doesn't work out for you, you'll either have to deliberately withhold this information, hoping that the buyer doesn't find out the truth (provided you're gonna end up selling the jacket) - or - If you do make a point of mentioning it, it's a kind of thing that will considerably affect the price.

Especially combined with that very questionable stitching the jacket is already going on there.

I'm just saying, be careful; I don't want you to lose money and while I've known about this jacket for a long while now and I initially kind of wanted it, I gave up on the idea after seeing that bad stitching. I just realized the laces have been removed today and I frankly wouldn't want to deal with re-selling it even if it was a lot cheaper than it was.

I think the result looks fine - I think better than the Fine Creek Leather The Nostar jackets with cut belt and epaulets...damn I think FCL did steal his idea :D

Oh sorry I didn't mean to imply that the alterations were done badly. They probably did a real good job because it's impossible to tell the laces were there, if you don't know. It's just that personally, I'm not too keen on jackets that have been altered.
