How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

The "Aeronaut" appellation is too close to Aero for my tastes (much more experience trademark lawyers than I would agree). I know Aero did ask them to chance it, but, well.... BK. Shame, really, as I'm sure it's a very decent jacket in and of itself and would be nicer without any dispute issues hanging over it.
It was done as a deliberately provocative act at the time. I wonder how many sales they lost with that sort of stupid behaviour.

AMF Harley jacket (relabeled brooks) arrived today. It'll hold me over until the Aero is done. Spectacularly poor photos attached. It's surprisingly thick. I'll get some better shots soon.

One of those - AMF Harley - in seal brown, was my first leather jacket ever. I bought it without knowing ANYTHING about leather or jackets, at a Harley dealership, 35 years ago. Since then I have learned so much about jackets and leather, and have had many, but have NEVER had a nicer fitting, or more flattering jacket. I rode back then, and have many fond, amazing, and head-shaking memories in it. I would give my left ...umm ...something ...to have it back again.

Yours looks great, and I'm seriously envious.

Thanks Bobj. This is the second AMF jacket I've owned and they are really nice. I've noticed both mine are a bit heavier than the Brooks jackets of the same vintage I've owned. I'm not sure if Brooks spec'd them this way or it's just coincidence. My understanding is Brooks made these for HD dealers and American Machine and Foundry added their own HD tag.

Yep, that's how it goes...

I had a CR like that too. It was an Aero Cafe Racer in cordovan but one day I woke up with a brilliant idea and messed everything up. Again. For the millionth time in my life.

I just ordered a LW 4.5+ oz FQHH Russet Brown TEST today with Brass hardware and a Brown Duck Canvas lining. Alas, it seems that Brown Duck Canvas is no longer available. Stuart was extremely helpful and quick in suggesting a lining replacement. We exchanged quite a few emails (my God is he quick in replying and resolving issues). He suggested either a Brown/Black Heavyweight pure NOS Rayon Satin or a Black Duck Canvas. I already have a LW 4.5+ oz FQHH Black Test with a Duck Canvas lining that I ordered last summer, which I use for riding my motorcycle. The Brown Test would not be used for riding. Durability and quality are my main concerns. As for the colour of the lining, I really don’t know. I usually match with the same colour tone: black with black, brown with brown. As you can see, I'm colour-matching challenged. Yes, my wife picks my ties too. Any suggestions anyone?

I think the Brown Duck Canvas would be a nice option here. I ordered a J23 From Stuart back in October and after a little phone discussion about linings, I stuck with the quilted Black Rayon lining, it's nice but just a bit on the warm side compared with my Easy Ryder which I purchased second-hand off this forum.

Seems you have experience working with Stuart, so have you actually ever talked with him on the phone? He and I had a great discussion and he was very personable, answered all my questions and had the whole whole deal wrapped up in about 15 minutes, much more time-efficient than lots of back and forth e-mails.

I have my fill of LW jackets. I enjoyed the process, and really like both the jackets I have, for now nothing else new on that front.

Thx. I Think I'll go with the Rayon (either Brown or Black). Unfortunately, the Brown Duck Canvas, which is standard with the TEST, is no longer available. Stuart told me he would contact the mfg to be extra sure. I'm waiting for a reply. Anyway, Stuart offered a Black Duck Canvas or either a Brown or Black Superheavy Rayon Satin lining. Now, is the Rayon that much warmer than the Canvas? I'm leaning towards the Superheavy Rayon (Stuart says it is NOS (1950s) and almost exhausted). Since I intend to wear the jacket in the Fall, the warmer the better. If only someone had some pictures of the Brown Rayon it would help. I don't want a light or Reddish Brown. In doubt, I might settled for the Black Rayon. I find Stuart to be very personable and friendly as well. And extremely quick and efficient in resolving issues. I've always been satisfied with my dealings with him (it's my fourth order).

I tend to find, like for like in weight, a manmade like satin warmer than cotton owing to the synthetic being less breathable.

I have two new (Aero) jackets coming at the moment. Arriving on next monday is a brown fqhh Highwayman with Lochcarron tartan lining. Arriving after 8-10 weeks is a Maxwell in natural tan vicenza with cheviot check cotton lining.

I am rather new to premium leather jackets, I bought my first one just three months ago, but now I think I have nailed the sizing which suits me (or at least I like). Unfortunately I had to pay to learn! I got a bit over excited and bought about 4-5 Aeros from ebay, that on hindsight were not so brilliant ideas. Of course, I learnt a lot in the process about fits of different jacket models and qualities of different leathers.

My advice to other Aero-newbies would be to stay away from ebay unless you can afford to go wrong few times. It's better and most likely cheaper to work with Aero directly or with Thurston (if you're not located in EU) . Of course financially, my best advice would be to go to your nearest mall and buy some cheap jacket which which fits you so and so. If you go the Aero way, you will most probably end up addicted to getting new bespoke leather jackets and spend fortune on those. Does anyone know someone who has bought just one Aero jacket?

Haha! It would be interesting to know about Aero’a ratio of returning customers. I’m also a bit of a newbie, bought my first aero about a year ago. Even though I said that I’d only spend crazy numbers like that on a jacket once in my life, I now have two with one more on the way [emoji13]

There is something that tickles my penchant for addictions about a good quality leather jacket. And the break in process is just so damn fun. When I was “done” with my first jacket I just wanted to start over again.

Gotta say, I was exactly the same back when I started down this rabbit hole - "It's okay, honey. These things are built to last, so just one should see me good to the Crack of Doom!" - Six years on: a LHB, Bootlegger, Dust Bowl, Board Racer two A-2s, an Irvin and a D-1 sit in my wardrobe...

I've got an AMF perfecto in pretty amazing condition just in case, you know, you were thinking about rounding out your collection. :)

Not me. And I don't think such a person exists.

I am currently in the market for a brown/cordovan CR or other from Aero. Eventually, probably going to order a custom Aero from Carrie but in the meantime, waiting the 8-12 weeks would be brutal...

I'm on week two. The best thing to do is order immediately after you receive one. As soon as my Bootlegger came in I was planning my CR. I've barely even begun to break in the BL. So the CR is set it and forget it. Se ya when I see ya.
