I think you're talking about me... I just picked up a C2 from Mintvintage. They have a LOT of nice leather for sale right now. I'm trying hard not to think about it. But that C2... Man, I just hope it fits as well as I think it will.So... who grabbed the Vanson Model C from the uk ebay?
Yeh, that's the one. I considered it very seriously, patina on it is insane and leather looks nice and thick. But truth is, I don't need it, so I resisted. I do need a Schott Horsehide, a Brown Langlitz and a Lost Worlds jacket, though.
ooooo, two tone, very nice.
still playing around with this idea.... might even think what if the belt and patch pockets are in natural vegetable leather, while the rest is olive
1 of 2 inbound arrived. 60'-70's era H-D Cycle champ. Leather is way more substantial than I suspected. This is a long size and it just barely gets there in body length. Sleeves are ample and long. Now. Where's my damn model E. George is getting upset.

It's 26.5" but sure fits shorter! 1/16th less and I'd chuck it. Good point about the belt loops. These came with really thin belts but those would accommodate a Sam Browne style for sure. It's a surprisingly nice jacket. Will make a good beater for sure.Might as well have been a full on custom made just for you but man, if that a Long size... I can't imagine how Regular could've ever worked for anyone, especially on a bike. These are extremely cool. I wonder why the belt looks are so huge, though... Can't be they just wanted to be sure every belt would fit?

I like those odds!Looks great Tony.
Over / under is two weeks.
Hi,
That looks interesting.
What happened to the collar? Is this now with no collar?
What is that circle or hole in-between the shoulders? A snap? For what?
Are there no hand-warmer pockets along the side? Or maybe we can't see them from these views?
Two-Tone is cool. However I would bare in mind the practicality of colors depending on how you are using the jacket.
Tan straps and pockets might look nice and be fine for your use.
My first thoughts are that you mention having the lightest colors on the parts you will be touching the most. So they will get dirty fast. It depends on your use, like I said. If you plan on building this jacket for adventures and travel, I would expect the light parts to get dirty as unplanned and unexpected events happen, as should be expected. For example, working on your bike on the side of the road, assembling your tent, carrying tools, food, etc. The random unscheduled dismount (and hope you land in dirt, not road). Etc, etc. Things happen.
Now if you are not planning on such adventures, you plan on staying in the city or near home doing basic chores and going to the movies, etc. maybe you're in school and that will dominate your time and days, then it probably will not matter too much and lighter colors will be fine.
Keep working at it.
As a two tone this is screaming out for Thedi to make it.Thank you Shadow Boxer
I like no collar man, all my jackets have no collar but it raise high enough to spread or even folded back
no, the hole on the back is an eyelet, you see the upper part leading to the neck is cut into a dart, and with thicker leather it will not get very flat and might pucker a bit at the start of the dart, adding eyelet there is a nice way to flatten it out, also for rip stopper so it won't rip further, and emergency hanger if really necessary. on the front I also make a pair of dart toward the neck but that would be snaps to anchor the collar spread
nope no handwarmer, NEVER I live in the tropic, and handwarmer make crumply looking abdomen section of the jacket imo. also the reason I like scalloped hem so I still can use the pocket of my pants easily without the jacket looking too cropped.
I live in the city and mostly indoor, the kind of accident that might happen to my jacket is when I refill my pen since I stop buying cartridges or trying to get the last of tomato ketchup out of the damn bottle. If I go with natural leather I really want it to get "patina" the cool way asap though, probably I will wipe my wet hands whenever I wash my hand on those parts, or purposefully wash dishes with it to get the cuff darkened, every once in a while when I have difficulty to start my bike I would cover the air intake with my hand while kickstarting it and maybe I will wipe whatever gasoline+ twinstroke oil there too... thats about the closest thing for "legit" motorcycling stain ever going to happen.
Thanks again.
BTW, I'm picturing this color
but now I remember last time I said something about blue leather for my next jacket when I ordered my brown jacket from one of the sample and this jacket maker said they bought me some blue cowhide otherwise it might run out... eh so maybe I have to take that blue
