I see that, the rest of the sweat looks to be thick without the separation. I think asking the seller might help, maybe a close up of sweat could be obtained. I still like this hat, with a formal center dent and a nice pinch, it could be a daily driver.

I sent him a message about it he never got back to me.

I'm on the computer and I don't see it . The monitor is 22" X 18" , so its big , I just don't see anything separating . Sorry

Both of the hats I bought from him needed to have the sweatbands replaced. The first one fell completely apart the first time I gently manipulated it. I thought the second was going to be alright but after an hour of wearing it the sweat separated in two locations. The sweats both looked fine when I first received them. I wouldn't trust any of them to be in good condition. They were improperly stored and before buying I'd figure in the cost of a new sweat and the loss of the stampings on original sweat.

That's ok,but when I go to ebay and mouse over it to zoom I see well.We'll agree to disagree.Also after knowing one member here got one of his hats and the sweat crumbled.I'm not willing to take the chance at full price.

I wish I would have seen what you saw. Both of the hats I bought from him needed to have their sweats replaced. Still nice hats, but the added expense was an unwelcomed surprise.

I sent him a message telling him I knew of someone that got one of his hats.Told him that the sweat had to be replaced no answer.

Getting burned twice is enough for me. I'm not totally disappointed in the hats, but I think they are $50-75 hats in their condition. The seller does not inspire confidence in any future purchases.

Sorry you got burned.I'd ask for some money back.I really try to check out the pics very closely.Your right about the price.That's about what I offered for the hat.Guess he didn't want to hear it.But now he knows...hope he doesn't burn anyone else.

The Dobbs I bought arrived today and it was indeed a size 7 1/8 and not 7 1/2 as advertised. The vintage market for those with larger heads is brutal. I'm going to take a break for a couple of weeks; I feel beat up.

My gray Biltmore arrived today as well as the too small Dobbs. The Biltmore is a keeper in charcoal gray; however, it was not in the new condition the seller claimed.

The ribbon has an almost green tint to it. I like it.

Good sir! Very nice Tripler Homburg. With that brim, it would tend toward a "Lord's Hat". I did some research on the Tripler company a while back, I'll have to dig that up. Hard to tell who made this hat for the store based on the mfg tag. I think you would come up with something similar in a lounge search.

Catching up on my postings. This Battersby "Superior" Homburg came in a package from the Netherlands. Stefan thinks this one is from the 1940s to early 50s. Super soft felt for a homburg, nice finish. Classic styling drew me to this one, and I needed a British Homburg for my international collection. Size is a 7 1/8 English, which is a 58cm. With a little nudge, fits just right. This one will get a bunch of casual wear.

Did some research on Battersby. There is a book (on order) about the history of the company. They date back to the mid 19th Century. I found a rather nice write up in Wikipedia. By 1966 the company was gobbled up.

Wow, that's a good looking hat. The shape is just how I like a homburg.

Typically, what is considered as a Lord's Hat is a homburg style without any binding on the brim edges. There is some debate as to the origin of the name. They are a casual homburg style worn by the Gentry on their trips to the village. If you Google, you see images of Downton Abby.
