So do you guys only wear your Homburg when you dress full vintage/formal, or do any of you guys try to mix it in with your more vintage casual/ modern looks?
I'm not a citizen of the Homburg Nation. But here's my post working me towards deportation.
Not certain if the Akubra Homburg would get me past the Citizenship Test. Kind of an illegal alien...so I get the benefits but don't have to pay taxes ;)

But I wear it quite often. It's simply is a cool lid. Others must think so as well given that I get more compliments on this hat than all my others combined. Maybe it's just because you really don't see many relatively. Hmmm...something to ponder, now that I think of it, maybe the other hats just make me look like a dork.

I wear mine for a dressy night out such as a concert or an opera. I don't wear it to court or church as I don't think it fits those occasions for me. I would wear one to a wedding if it was a formal wedding. This is just what I am comfortable with; others carry them off superbly in much more varied situations.

Both Goose and Slim are perfect examples of that.

Thank you Mr. Paladin. It's just a fun hat to wear. The rear of the brim doesn't knock into the car headrest and I can smooch my wife without her getting bumped in the noggin'.

GWD, beautiful hat. Killer with that suit!!!! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Lembert Homburg

I am thinking this one is from the early 1980s but in mint condition. Style wise it is very similar to a 1940 Habig I have in for repair at Optimo.

A hat called Homburg
The Prince of Wales, who later became King Edward VII of England, and Konrad Adenauer, the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, have one thing in common: their love of the Homburg. The former created it, the latter then turned it into a fashionable hat in more recent times. During his visits to Homburg, the English Prince occasionally met his nephew, Kaiser Wilhelm II., who liked to wear a special hunting uniform, which comprised, amongst other things, a green hat with the brim rolled slightly inwards on one side. Edward, who had the reputation of being one of the best-dressed men at the close of the 19th century, decided to have the hat made in an elegant shade of grey – by the Homburg-based hat manufacturers Möckel, who were even awarded a patent for their “Homburg”. The new hat quickly took the world of men’s fashions by storm, surpassing the stiff top hat and bowler hat that had until then been the usual mode of attire. The lightweight, casually-elegant “Homburg” was representative of the new joy of living. Later on, the “Homburg” was also manufactured in blue and black, although Adenauer always preferred the original grey.

Here are a couple of circa 1940 Homburgs (J. Heinr. ITA Wein) I recently won on Austria Ebay. Once I receive them I will post more pictures.

I Got This Yesterday....

Knox Superfine Homburg

I've decided that I'd like a nice gray Homburg. I happened to stumble across this gem.....and the price was definitely right, so I bid and won it.

The cattleman's crease is gone. It just has a simple center crease, no side dents. [huh]

Here is a really nice black J. Heinr. ITA Homburg that I also posted on the German - Austrian Hutmacher thread (also posted above). Seller said 1940 but I couldn't find any date info on the paper label.
