Hats and Drinks - A Match Made in Heaven

Bucket List! Whoever thought of this is brilliant; a poster board scratcher with 50 Single Malt Scotch Whiskies you scratch off as you experience a NBD. The only thing better would be a scratch & sniff board!

I'm already a dozen in, & several not listed in the 50.

So many Whiskies, so little time.

Agreed Jack, that is a terrific idea. I will keep one as a digital poster. I have in the last 6 months been keeping some notes on my phone about potential whiskeys and a short list of the few I have at home.

Yesterday evening I had a dram of Arberlour Casg Annamh. I can not add anything to my already posted experiences with this whiskey other than remind it is excellent for postprandial sipping. Yup I read postprandial in other whiskey reviews and I like the word. (postprandial - during or relating to the period after dinner or lunch).

During a late night walkabout I sipped a Omni Lager.

My wife and I had yesterday off. Yesterday's lunch beer was a Founders Big Luscious. My wife ended up finishing this beer off. It has a sweet finish which I was not in the mood for.

Pre-garden clean-up I sipped a Surley Pilsner. Post yard work and ready for feet-up deck time I sipped a Deschutes Hazy IPA.

It is surprising how much you get get accomplished on a warm Fall day with the prospect of cold and rainy weather ahead.

Cheers, Eric -

I enjoyed that beer when I had some last year. But I do agree it is something you have to be in the mood for.

Went on a liquor run today & found two Highland Single Malts priced right. Both are new to me but consistently score high. Been under a 1989 Kevin O'Farrell all day today.

So it's a NBD opening the GlenDronach Original 12 yr Old tonight. It consistently scores between 87 - 89.

Trying to establish a variety of favorites in NAS, 10 yr olds & 12 yr olds as regulars, & establish stock in 15 yr olds, 16 yr olds, & 18 yr olds saved for special occasions.

Well, I hope they’re good. I think I’m gonna crack open a bottle of Mac 12 that I picked up last year or so. Last night I finally killed my bottle of Daftmill 2006 (summer release). I would describe that as a very good bottle of whisky, but not really my cup of tea. Does that make sense? Anyway, have a great night.

Spent part of today, in the Whippet, visiting my 27 year old daughter who I haven’t seen in almost two years. It was a good day. She now lives 10 minutes from me, so lots of good days to come. Finally opened my bottle of MACALLAN 12 and about to enjoy some.

Jack; Excellent finds today. I see you can check off another box on the Scotch Whiskey chart. I will look at some reviews this evening. They read and look amazing. Cheers.

Excellent visit to celebrate. Congrats on the visit and on the Mac12.

Makes perfect sense that it may not be your cup of tea. The only times I really didn’t enjoy a bottle of something, didn’t feel like I learned something from the experience, & truly hated it & felt like I wasted my money was the last time I bought some of that $12/gal stuff from a membership store.

When I got out for some Tex Mex last night the bar was packed & I had to sit at a sidebar facing a mirror until someone left. There is a high school just up the road that was hosting a home game last night, & some of the parents were fueling up as they suffer thru another losing season I hear. It was a cool day so another outing for my BSHW blue Heather.

As I made the 65TH lap around the sun today, I wanted a hat that I knew to close to my own age w/o too much speculation. I decided on this No.1 that has a $13.98 sales sticker behind the sweat dated 1958. A couple of years after my 56 vintage but as close as I could be certain about. There was no question as to what beverage I would be enjoying on this day and night.

An early birthday surprise at the mail box yesterday. Knowing my work history with Jack Daniel’s and my affinity for the occasional JD indulgence, my other friend Jack sent me these fine glasses. Many thanks to @Hurricane Jack. Soon to be in service.
