Thanks for your responses. I don't recall noticing that way to wear bowlers in older photos before.
Presumably that picture was taken before he was a haberdasher, but good reminder.

Harry was also a haberdasher so you would think he could properly fit a hat.

Love the pun and pic...
Truman' s haberdashery was located in the Glennon Hotel on the NW corner of 12th & Baltimore, KCMO. The 4 finest hotels in Kansas City were located at that intersection & several more located within blocks. The Democratic National Convention in 1900 was held at the Baltimore Hotel. All the cattle buyers & sellers who came weekly to the Kansas City Stockyards stayed at these hotels. Truman probably met several wealthy & influential individuals of the day at the hotel & in his shop. The Glennon Hotel was where Truman began his political career from.

Truman had terrible form
He clearly didn't own his own ball
Who goes bowling in a suit, vest & tie anyway? This was clearly a publicity photo opportunity when he was President. Nowadays when everything is spun to the max clearly such an unflattering photo would not be released by the President's "people" for publication.

I should be ashamed of myself for starting a thread that I knew would devolve to this. Which reminds me of a bowling ball joke that would surely get me a severe wrist-slap.
