Friedrich W. Schneider Köln "Helium", Crown Open 5 1/2 inches, Brim 2 1/4 inches, probably 1950s. Friedrich W. Schneider (F.W.S.) Köln are still in business today and own the Stetson license for Europe. F.W.S. owned many trademarks (see below) going back to Pre WWII.

Very cool find, Steve. I come across Helium hats once in a while, but none in my size so far.

Ferdinand Walter Mödling - Baden (Austria), 5.25 oz / 149 g, excellence condition, possibly 1930s could late 1920s. Ferdinand Walter Mödling - Baden appears in the Austrian Hat Industry Guide (1926) but not sure if they made hats. There is no other company mark. The felt is fantastic same with the form. The bow is slightly offset.

Hi everybody,
I scored a nice brown woolfelt fedora last sunday. On the sweatband and the lining it says "Hans Körner Dusseldorf" and on the backside of the sweatband are two types of stemps: date stamp and something i can not decode. The crown's inside is covered with plastic. The lining ist stiched.
However, here are some photos so you guys can share your thoughts and opions about this lid.
Thank you guys!

Manfred, Thanks! It has a lower profile. I hadn't seen anything from Ferdinand Walter before so thought I would pick it up. I tend to think it was sourced as a finished hat but it could have been put together from sourced parts.

Thank you for posting it here. I am the guy from Facebook that asked for the additional photos. :) I am fairly certain that this hat is Fur Felt (most likely Rabbit) and not Wool. As I mentioned it's difficult to know what German Hat company made the hat. I can't make out any detail that points to a specific maker. If I could see the sweat band seam and bow that might shed some light. Unfortunately we often run into similar situations were there is no company mark (see the Melone I posted above).

I will take a detailed picture from the bow/ribbon this afternoon as I'm also very interested to find out more about my beautiful new head piece.

I have received a bevy of stingy velours last week from my Holland Connection. They all fit here. First, a Rockel Chamois super stingy. The finish is sooooo velvet smooth and rich. The sweat says "Extra-Anfertigung" The hat was sold by Aug. (Agustus?) Simon jr. huthaus Aalen-Witt, I assume, Germany, but maybe from Stefan's part of the world. Very nice hat, it will get some serious winter wear.

Great find Mike. The shop is closed now. Simons original Retailer shop closed in the 90s and had later new owners!
That is what I found about Simon. Google Translation.
With the "Hutecke" the original hat shop between Crailsheim and Gmünd confused. Although the business is booming, the owner Rita Braun and her husband Dieter enter the business is a medium-sized company that focuses on their parent company in Heidenheim.Aalen. Signs in the shop window "Die Hutecke" in the Mittelbachstraße history is. "We moved to Heidenheim," it says, "we look forward to your visit." The staff clean the windows and scrub the floor, it smells like solvents. Following the motto "well protected" the shop closed a gap in 1996, after the end of the hat shop Simon at the beginning of the 90s there was no shop in Aalen anymore. Both Hutmachermeisterin Rita Braun and her husband Dieter can not drop over the missing business. "We are very satisfied with our customers". Many customers are happy to have been created after the end of the hat shop Simon a new point of contact. As beautiful as the shop, but also in Gmünd still in Ellwangen are a comparable store. "The friendship is not too old, but it is currently in the trend," says Dieter Braun. But the 81 and 75 years old can no longer be in Aalen and Heidenheim. "The long journeys and then twelve-hour days in the shop, that's the substance," says Dieter Braun. Especially since it is not a thing, but in things Heidenheim am Schloss is located in your residential building. The customers cordially invite you to have a rest in the Hinteren Gasse 24. In Heidenheim the family has been present for generations: "What about the stand in Mittelbachstraße?", Is now open. [emoji767] Schwäbische Post 27.02.2010 15:10

Mike, Thank you posting it here! Also Manfred, Thank you for finding the history of the hat shop that sold it!

Mike, As I mentioned in the "Post New Hat thread" -> Is the liner to attached to the sweatband reed casing?
