Hello Folks,

I'm new here to the Fedora Lounge. Well, I've lurked for a couple of years, but newly registered. However, I'm not new to hats.

I've got two great Fedoras which I purchased in Munich, Germany while stationed in Germany in 1981. They were made by A. Breiter, Hutmacher am Dom, (hat maker at the Dome), founded in 1863. I've kept good care of them and they still look sharp. I'll post some photos as soon as I figure out how.

Cheers,
Max

Welcome! I have a couple A. Breiter brand hats and few that were sold by Breiter. They are posted back in this thread. Looking forward to the photos of your A. Breiter hats.

Thanks for posting the additional pictures!

Looks like maker is indeed Georg Fischer out of Wien (Vienna) and exported to USA. I couldn't find anything on Georg Fischer Hutfabrik. Is the liner stitched or glued in? Also any paper label behind the sweatband? From the sweat and liner I am thinking early 60s.

Mayserwegener,
When I pulled the sweatband down the stitching broke so now my little hat needs an expensive repair. Do you collect these hats? Would you like this one? I have no money to get it fixed so I'd rather send it to someone who can give it a better home than I could. I tried to PM you but I was told my account doesn't allow access to that page(?). Perhaps you could email me: brad@brmoroni.com

Böhm

I received this small size brown Böhm Fedora a while back but never posted pictures. I am thinking early 60s. I only have one other Böhm in my collection.

Beautiful moderately lightweight finely finished felt. 2-3/8" raw edge brim. 1960 date on tag. 2" wide sweatband fairly thick buttery leather.

AETHA Clergy Hat

As Dreispitz suggested this is probably some type of clerical hat (size 57.5cm). I couldn't find anything on AETHA and appears the store that sold it A. Spanke of Münster didn't survive WWII. It could have been custom made (modified?) and has elements of a Top Hat and Bowler. The felt finish, liner, rope and sweatband (hand stiched) are of very high quality. The under brim is fabric lined but not sure of the material. Any ideas on the age? It came with the original box and is in near mint condition.

Definitely Roman Catholic! And what a specimen of a hat! A priest´s bowler - cardinal´s casual - with a top-hat finish. Non plus ultra quality wise!

Only a guess from what I have seen before: presumably pre 1920

No information on the maker, what so ever [huh]

Wegener Echt Panama

Wegener Echt Panama, size 58cm. Haven't come across a Wegener straw before. Probably 1960s and a lower grade Cuenca (any ideas?). I like the blocking and brown ribbon treatment. Also nice comfortable sweatband plus light and airy.

That looks like what the Catholic priests were in the old days in Italy.

Wegener Colonel

Wegener Colonel, size 59cm. This one has a Homburg like look if not snapped. I am thinking late 50s early 60s. This was a mystery hat that turned out to be a nice find.
