This Mayser arrived today:

It's actually a little lighter than charcoal - a dark medium gray.

Mayser-001.jpg

2 5/8" brim, 5 1/2" uncreased crown, 2 1/8" reeded sweat, 7/8" ribbon.

It fits him well and he looks very handsome wearing it! I'll get a picture in the next day or two.

Sue, Can't get enough of this Mayser! Thank you for checking for a date stamp. I can't make out the numbers. Now that I see it again it might be a old one like Mario thought. Early 50s at the latest? I haven't seen that Mayser logo before. Do you think it lost some color from cleaning? Looking forward to seeing the pics of it on your husband's head! :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Where would I find the numbers? On the paper label or on the inside of the sweat?

See the noggin shots for its true color. It's actually just a shade lighter under the ribbon.

The picture of the back of the sweatband you posted has some numbers. I couldn't make them out from the picture. Sometimes Mayser will date stamp the back of the sweatband.

Mayser doesn't appear to date stamp the paper label. Is there anything on it that looks like a date?

Thanks, mayserwegener. The numbers stamped on the back of the sweat are xv411B (or 4118 - it's hard to tell. The stamp repeats itself.
xv There's nothing on the paper label that looks like a date and there are no other sweatband stamps.

2-3/8" raw edge brim, the crown is just over 4" at center pinch and rises to about 5" evenwith the deep center crease and side dents. 24 ligne ribbon with angled frayed rear edges. This is a fairly thick felt but sculpts with ease and stays any way you shape it(if you bump it it stays dented). Seems to have an elastic wind cord(?) but I haven't tried to pry it out from the bow center. The 2-1/4" soft leather sweatband has a lace around the entire circumference but the rear bow ends have worn away. Pictures show what seams to be the original crease. Both brim and crown will hold any shape.

Again what a great find! :eusa_clap Sure would like to know who made it. Did it come from USA eBay?

2-1/2" brim with narrow binding. Finish is between shaved and satin. Dark Taupe color.

It looks like it was never worn! :eusa_clap Beautiful ribbon / bow work and really like the felt color / finish. Overall super look! :eusa_clap Late 50s? Peschel ended up in Dinkelsbühl, Germany after WWII. Similar situation as Hückel.

Found this in one of our family photo boxes. Looks like some 1930ies velour.

Looks like a great 30s velour! :eusa_clap Pretty dressed up for skiing! :) Also neat old sleigh they are sitting on and Olympic rings Garmisch-Partenkirchen 1936.

It is a Alpine velour hat. My guess is the 1960s. George Fischer could be the shop that sold it and not the maker. If you can take some pictures of the liner and sweatband (also if there is a paper label behind the sweatband) that would help. Could you please post it at this thread?

As requested, here are pictures of the liner and sweat band:

And the hat seems to have been purchased in Cleveland:

Thanks for posting the additional pictures!

Looks like maker is indeed Georg Fischer out of Wien (Vienna) and exported to USA. I couldn't find anything on Georg Fischer Hutfabrik. Is the liner stitched or glued in? Also any paper label behind the sweatband? From the sweat and liner I am thinking early 60s.
