Maybe an option for our repro ideas too.

To all of you that have button-up jackets from him- what are your thoughts on the holes/ buttons, etc?
Or is it better to stick to zip-up models? Do you think they can get the cording and details right? This Ralphs-Pugh is also on my “dream” list.

Flaws: the top layer of the leather can chip. I purposely rubbed my elbow on a rough wooden table at the playground in an effort to aid patination and got a bit more than I was expecting. Fortunately I like it but it might bother some.

I asked about the patina my G-1 is already showing and Shawn said they processed the leather so it would do this. I'm OK with it but it's definitely a point to note that owners won't have to beat the living crap out of their jackets to get that vintage patina.

Here are 2 zippers that Mr Shawn showed me when I was asking for antique bronze color that I didn’t see on the website, YKK only for that color

Could you post pics of the elbow, please?

The bottom jacket will be very interesting if you proceed with a custom! The collar is superb too on this one!

I hope the horn buttons they have are good. The metal hardware they have on stock for truckers aren't very good and I had to upgrade mine.

The bottom one really appeals to me. I've been wondering about that too. Buttons are hard to get right. I would be more confident in the longevity of a zip than buttons - buttons fall off and good buttonhole stitching is hard to do. I'm pretty sure he can do piping.

I am wanting a 1950's Sears long half-belt with piping like that.

Here is a Belstaff copy of the Sears. I want this without the belt.

The real thing.

They look ok. Wonder if they are robust enough to survive repeated opening and closing.

how many repetitions do you have to endure? I often buttoned the ones on the cossack and the trucker and haven't noticed any deterioration so far. In addition, the replaced buttons on the trucker are 3 mm larger in diameter so the holes are more stressed.

Arrrgghhh. I’m fighting the urrgh, but ...

Hypothetically. If I were to order one of their J100 cafe racers. If send detailed measurements using Ton’s fields and specify the best and thickest goat they have along with the best brass zippers and snaps they can get. I’d also move the sleeve zips to the bottom of the wrist and specify hat the collar is extra stiff so that it doesn’t collapse or bend too much. Anything else? Any stitching or piping things I should ask for? I’m still fairly new to all this! Just hypothetically, of course!

I ordered my collars and cuffs “extra thick” heavy goat . I’ll let you know when it arrives

Thought you guys might be interested in the grain of the distressed buffalo hide of a Five Star Cossack.

View attachment 273822

This is the most distinctive graining I have seen on any of the 5 Star hides. Having seen them only in pics and not in person is the big caveat but that Buffalo graining looks really cool to me. I don't know the weight or the feel of Water Buffalo hide. I have said (and I think I have seen other mention) that if they could offer a non distressed Buffalo hide---that would be something I would potentially want. Love the graining and assuming the weight/thickness/feel is good, non distressed Buffalo would really be cool. The distressed looks interesting too in its own right--but for the type of jackets I want to get made, I don't want to go a pre-distressed look.

I also would prefer to have no distressing but don’t mind it given the grain and unique texture of this buffalo hide as the only option at the moment.

How many? Who knows Mr P. What I do know is I have had button holes unravel withing the first 12 months of a jacket's life and they too looked fine.
