You can def do black HH, just not the 2.2mm hide. Too thick.Damn, that’s almost exactly what I was hoping to order (either the Californian or a different piped model) in the black horsehide.

That’s Shawn’s trucker patternAnd my first 5* adventure has been concluded. The jacket arrived and...as I was afraid it's kinda big in the midsection.
I'm not sure how to address that issue. Any way the jacket is really good, but it has a strange gasoline smell. Good hh leather, no stiffness at all. I guess this will serve as my fit jacket.
What pattern you’ve got cooking in the oven?@MrProper Looks great, I like the color perfect for HB. I am still waiting for the pattern of my new jacket, it's been almost a month.
Are you thinking of Mr Freedom? I know for some of their undyed campus jackets they pre tan them in the sun, though the reason for this is just to age them a bit and warm up the colour. That’s Shawn’s trucker pattern
While it’s slim fit it is also straight torso
I nipped a few inches off the waist in custom measurements to get some taper.
Which I think with your shape you also need more taper.
You can send it back for alteration if shipping cost works out. Better to have a well fitted jacket you would wear than one that just collect dust in the closet.
The gasoline smell description is bang on. Petroleum by product aka paint (I think) off gas. A week out in the sun will do. More if cloudy. Shawn really need to hang these out before shipping them. I’ve read somewhere another jacket manufacturer set his out on the roof to tan before shipping to the customers. It’s not chemical, it’s the same smell as new synthetic yoga pants. The more elastane the stronger the smell.

Dang man I think that looks pretty damn good!!! I’d say you need to adjust the neck hole for sure. Just for comforts sake, and so it’s not jabbing at your throat. Forearms could be a bit wider, and cuffs too. Otherwise, looks pretty ace to me.Mine arrived today also and I knew it would be a tight fit. I tried to go with a fitted look which just doesn’t work for my frame 5’9” 205lbs
Forearms are the real problem as I ordered the wrist too tight and didn’t specify forearm circumference.
It feels pretty tight in the back trying to move arms forward and I probably brought the waist in too much for my current shape.
I was hoping some of you veterans can give an opinion of where my measurements need to change from what I gave them if I gave it another go. Any advice helpful.
P2P 60cm or 23.6in
Shoulder 49cm or 19.3”
Waist 48cm or 18.9”
Hem 50cm 19.7”
Back 63.5 cm or 25”
Arm hole 28cm or 11”
Bicep 22cm or 8.6”
Elbow 17cm or 6.7”
Wrist 11cm or 4.3”
Great observation. I’ve noticed this same thing but couldn’t put my finger on it!! Why the creases are this way: // instead of this way: = across the arms.Leathertog front, Trojan back. I had this issue with a back with no panel as well:I was hoping you would see this because you obviously work out. Is there anything I can tell them about the extra material in the back or is that just the way my body works with this pattern?
I wonder if it would look worse if I added a little to the chest and the middle so it doesn’t pull.
You’re right about the forearm, I might have to add a couple extra inches just to get in and out of it.
Do you mean the side panel like in your above picture?I had this issue with a back with no panel as well:

I think the panel brings in the back. Like an invisible Halfbelt so to speak.
I mean the lower back kidney panel. One other thing that helps eliminate the lower back bulge (though it’s not popular) is the much maligned center back seam:Do you mean the side panel like in your above picture?
I ordered the one with the bi swing back because it had side panels and now I wonder what it would have looked like with the other J100 style with the shoulder yoke with no side piece.
This would be a brilliant discovery. It’s the only thing I just can’t quite figure out with the sleeves. I’ll be really curious to see how this turns out!@ton312 They just need to turn the right sleeve clockwise and the left sleeve counterclockwise to the position where the center seam lines up with your wrist bone, in that way it follows the natural curve and position of your arm, so you can get slim sleeves without feeling extremely restrictive, hope I am right..
