First Dates

O.K. so a Guy can get from first base, to second base and by the third date he is rounding third base, and sliding into home plate! But, what happens if he strikes out? lol!

He gets struck out several times then he ends up middle-aged, single and bitter, like.... oh. Oh dear.

Scotland? Wait, that's sheep. (My Scot roomies get this grief from me all the time.)

Bizarre..... over this side of the Atlantic, they only say that about the Welsh. And Australians.

Hey i can sympathise, i have been single for two years nearly. Been out on one date, fella stood me up. But i still don't get it with you BD! Yet when i had a boyfriend loads of guys used to chat me up. What's that all about?

Male perspective would be good here

1] A significant proportion of men (hells, a significant proportion of humans) are inherently amoral scum.

2] Never underestimate the idiocy of the Fragile Male Ego - "I will prove I am a man by pulling somebody else's bird!"

Never saw the attraction in an attached person myself. On the practical side, chances are if they'll cheat with you, they'll cheat on you as well. and morally, it's right out the window. I'm sure serial cheats have some sort of excuse for it, though - some nonsense based on an argument about the hardwiring of the human animal, abdicating all personal responsibility.

My thoughts are still swinging back in the thought of being a bit sober on dates for the better results of a date.

Getting drunk can lead to all sorts of lack of normal behavior. One could do things that can never be undone. It would be no picnic at all, to be drunk, head off with the wrong person, spend the evening with no clue where you are even located at, wake up, peek out from under the covers, and see someone's teeth in a cup, a wig hanging on the dresser drawer handle, hearing the shower water running, hearing someone singing a song while they are in the shower, and you realize that person may even be the same "sex" as you are! O.O !!!!!

I don't understand how people don't see this! I can think of quite a few girls that have fallen into this trap - "If he would cheat on her for me, that means I am special." :eusa_doh:

That speaks to much of the core of how some "fellows" are.

I note you use the term, "bird"..in relation to a female....nothing negative in my taking note of that, it just has been some time now since I have heard that word used in the context, and actually had been wondering if it is still being used in the "British" areas of this world..or if it had died a verbal death and replaced by something new?

A bit if information for some of you Gals that are not dating much or think maybe the Guys around are not taking notice of you....take into account, if you are fairly attractive, some fellows may think you are already very "booked up" and would not give them the time of day. A good looking Gal can appear to be just so nice looking that some Guys think they have no chance, and due to the "male" ego not wanting to be bruised, just look, observe and maybe even day dream about knowing you....but they never say a "peep" about it all to you.

I myself have had many conversations with Guys about that issue. I actually was a fairly open person when I was young and would be willing to approach any Gal without hesitation in asking if they wanted to have some enjoyment and go out and do something. Not all Guys have enough confidence to do so, and are too afraid of rejection.

After getting married, I've had far more offers from guys to go on dates than before. Some don't know I'm married. (I don't think, I wear a wedding band but somebody striking up a conversation with me might not notice.) Some do know I am married and even comment on it or ask me if I am and then continue to chat me up. I have to think that this second group likes attached women. They also tend to be creepy. Not all, but a good portion give me the creeps.

I always thought that being married would serve as a repellent to men asking me out or chatting it up, but to some that just seems to make it a challenge.

Maybe that's it. I just always thought that suddenly I had a magic creepy man repellent once I was married. Turns out it was more like very creepy man attractor. I just say that I'm happily married and then tell them "no" and "escape" if I can.

Good one! If I run into this and the guy is nice, I say "Well, I would... But I don't think my boyfriend would like it!"

Have to agree with you Doolittle. I don't understand why people just can't be the "bigger man" about things. Ok, so the jerk hit on you and you have a boyfriend...tell him no politely and send him on his way. There's no reason to try and damage someone just because you can. That comes across to me as petty.

Definitely being unavailable causes more attention from men (in my experience). Saying you're in a relationship, or married, doesn't seem to matter to some men these days!

When I've told men I wasn't interested and was in a relationship, I've gotten 'are you sure....I could give you my number just in case.' In case what? I shudder to think! *lol*

That was from a guy who at 2 a.m. in the morning was following me (unbeknownst to me, he admitted it!). Creepy!
