what a shame. the color would have been really cool.
Shit, so brown pigment shinki could be the choice

I will take the decision once I have the samples at home.

I do have:
- Himel’s aniline “oil tan” shinki in dark brown
- Himel’s pigment finished shinki in black
- Greg’s pigment finished hide in navy.

I would like to leave the brown aniline leather out of the equation. It’s by far the most rich and luxurious hide, I have ever handled. Due to the oils and waxes, the leather feels feisty, very substantial and nearly juicy. It drapes beautifully, but doesn’t really crease much.

As for the two pigment finished hides, Greg’s leather feels slightly lighter than Himel’s black leather but still substantial. I can’t really make an objective comparison as Greg offered an extra grainy hide. looks and feels great but is so different than the rather smooth hide, Himel uses that it boils down to a matter of personal preferences.

Reading through this, I really don’t know if that helps at all. All three leathers are fine. The brown oil tan from Himel is something else. Comes at a price, though.

Thanks for sharing. The dark brown oil tanned jackets they make sure are gorgeous

Yep :( There's a hole in my Badalassi project

Hope he is able to get enough good pieces out of that stockpile

Medium brown and red brown looks promising. Which hide will you pick since tobacco badalassi is not available?

aniline or pigmented?

Looks like all pigment finish to me

He's not, unfortunately. This is 70 square feet (5 hides). He needs 35 Sq feet for my jacket but the quality is so bad (color differences, blemishes, different levels of grain) that he doesn't think it's enough for one jacket.

Thanks, do you have aniline samples to post?

The only aniline right now is the black that he offers

The sample you quoted looks like medium brown to me. I would imagine the seal brown would be much darker than that and closer to black than chocolate.

Too bad, the pictures didn't look very appealing at all. What do you think will happen if that gets washed? I remember that Thedi post you made

How do you mean washed? With beeswax?
Greg will send these hides back to his supplier because they're not at all how they said they'd be.
