Heh, yes... I always think of that song. There's also, BTW, a story of a guy working for British Leyland in the late 70s managing to do the same with a Mini. Had it sitting complete in his garage, but got caught carrying out the bumpers (fenders).... lol
Actually, postwar didn't Volkswagen actually give credit for those people who had paid ahead on their cars? I thought I read that somewhere.
I don't know exactly what they did at that point, tbh - they may well have. Wasn't VW one of the companies that was administered by outside, Allied interests for a long time thereafter? I remember years ago when I studied IP law reading about how the Bayer TM was only returned to Germans several decades later.
