Sounds like a plan!
I was gonna buy that one to resell myself. It would not have fit me but it would have been worth the price to turn it over. The seller just had a picture of the dang box and I almost missed the fact that there was a perfectly good hat in there too. Did you make him an offer or did you win it at the end of the auction. I lost track of it and when I checked on it it was already yours.
I received my Amon Carter Open Road today and it was as nice (if not nicer) than the pictures here:

The felt is very soft and pliable and the brim is very firm and snaps down very strongly. I've already sent the hat to a buddy on here to have it "Stratolined" to get rid of the cattleman crease. I'd do it myself but I don't want to start practicing my skills (or lack there of) on such a nice and expensive hat. I'll post pictures when I get it back. The 7 5/8 long oval fits me perfect by the way (sorry Tom).
You picked up a REALLY GREAT hat. Myself, I would have kept the original crease and just snapped the brim down in front mainly to have kept the historical aspect to the hat. But then I like the US Cattleman's crease
No idea. I considering peppering the seller with the usual questions, but decided to gamble. Not much at stake, after all, and it might be a winner. Is that one wool? A lot of Merrimac's product was wool (but not all).
Great deal in my opinion, I think you probably have a winner! No idea. I considering peppering the seller with the usual questions, but decided to gamble. Not much at stake, after all, and it might be a winner.
I bought this on Ebay this morning, it was newly listed with a BIN of $21.99
