Yes, I am a size 7. Once in a while a hat that was originally supposed to be 6-7/8 fits just fine. Sometimes a size 7-1/8 is good, other times way too loose. Sometimes a 7 is perfect other times it is tight.

John B. Stetson paperweight

Here's an 'item of interest' that just arrived, won on ebay. It's real, and odd - I expected it to be a paper litho attached to the bottom of the glass, but it's actually a lithograph made directly onto the glass (like paint). The glass is very heavy - reminds me of those old glass insulators.

Curiously, I get 'invalid url' when I try to load images, and I also get an error trying to upload from my computer. What's up with that?

I'm a 7 3/8 - sometimes they work.

Sometimes you just have to try. I'm a 7 1/4 - just shaved my head and pleasantly discovered that I can now wear two of my favorites: a 7 1/8 and a tight 7 1/4, both 1910's high-crown Stetson westerns. Now I can look even spookier.

Hi Scott! Nice to see you here. I was tempted on that. Glad you got it. Looks like it says "Made by...." on the bottom. Can you tell us what it says?

Thanks
B

Thanks B - I find that posting in forums leads to more purchasing, so I stay away unless I have a little scratch. It says: 'J N ABRAMS MYSTIC CONN.' I googled the name prior to purchasing, and they were a legit company that made paperweights way back when.

Very nice. That's only the second one of those I've seen. I offered $20 shipped after it didn't sell the first time, but the seller didn't get back to me, so you got it for as low as the seller was willing to go.

Well.......that Penney's Marathon arrived today and one could definitely say that it was not 'underdescribed'

P1000997.jpg

The felt has a wonderfully soft 'hand', the ribbon, bow and brim binding (apart from some staining) are in great shape but the sweat will need to be replaced (recommendations with approx. pricing appreciated)

P1000999.jpg

I'm going to attempt the Naptha Bath treatment before any further renovation.

Send it straight to Peters Bros. in Ft. Worth. It looks to be worth the $85.00 it would cost to TOTALY refurb it ! :)
