Some Recent Pickups

Poor quality photos but this size 59cm Mayser could turn out to be pretty nice especially for $16.00. Probably late 50s early 60s. I also picked the previously posted Doebsch Homburg and two other hats from this seller as a package deal.

Did you buy that lot? I sent another lounger the ebay link and assumed he bought the hat.

In any case, should be a good hat if the moths haven't inflicted too much damage.

I have my first German hat arriving any day now - looking forward to it

What's the story behind those little brushes such as on the green hat above?

They are boar hair brushes and come in different sizes (some very large). They are hunt related and worn on trachten hats. The traditions goes way back in time. Dresipitz might be able add more details.

I didn't see that Habig. It is definitely older than the one I picked up. What is the size?

That is a nice Miesbacher velour. I can't make out the hat company.

The velour appears to say SABA and Hut Seidl, München.

First truly "vintage" Panizza I've seen. Won for 0.99 Euro, but unfortunately smaller than my head.
Mutinelli since 1888 with nice website:http://www.mutinellicappellimilano.com/fotogallery.html

Great Hat! I love Mutinelli. I went there 2 years ago and bought a couple of hats. My wife and I are going to Milano again this October and they are a must on my list of places to go. I might go to the Cervo factoy as well!
