I haven't seen the logo on the box or liner. Is it a new look or an old one?

The box has "Optimo" in script rather than the block letters of the one I bought from Bruce Wayne. Is that an older one? The picture of the liner is pretty fuzzy, but it seems to have the logo in a circle which is also unlike the hat I have.

The addresses should date it between 1914-1928.

Anyways, I just won a pretty darn good lookin' Stetson "Flagship" just now with the box in excellent condition and an ad for it from '47! Hip-Hip HOORAY!!! It's the most I've ever paid for a hat thus far, but I sure thought I'd pay a lot more than I did. It'll definately get the Optimo treatment since I'm pretty sure it's been a looooong time since it's got a good cleaning and blocking. Check it out.

That's a beauty Manny. I am beginning to like the lighter colors such as that. It looks like it would have a great feel to the felt as well. Very nice!

A mini gripe....of sorts

I just received a Mallory that I bought (much more accurate than 'won' dontcha think?) on the Bay 2 weeks ago. I'll post pics soon.

It's 50's vintage and reminds me of a Whippet. I bought it because I need another grey lid (which is how it was described) and liked the look of this one. Now that it's in my hand it turns out to be brown - close to Akubra's Regency Fawn.

I do like this lid - it's soft, comfortable, in great condition (though it needs a bath) and looks good on my head.

But honestly, if I get another brown hat I'm gonna use it as a potty!

Beware colour-blind sellers!

E. T. - I'm in the same canoe as you. Seems as if every lid I'm attracted to lately is some shade of brown. :( It's a good thing I have lots of navy suits and blazers ....

True enough Sue. The different shades of brown can match up with my blues and greys with a bit of accessorising.

I just need to be creative - and get me another grey lid or two!

Glad you got that one, it looks like it might be in good shape. Fair price, too.

You can narrow the date range even further, because 620 Fifth Avenue didn't open until 1917. Pretty safe to say 1920s on that Derby, isn't it?

I'll be interested to see any other details of the hat.

Wow, love that liner, simple but elegant! Another fine product of Hat Corporation of America. Good catch!
