Congratulations!

It fits right in with the rest of your hat "family". On the dating, I believe that the liner states "Established 1823", which puts it pre-1946 when Stetson bought the company. One of the experts on dating can confirm or refute.

Sue! Our lady of the holy hat...! ;) Thank you so much. I'll never manage to remember all those dates, hints and details... :p

Could the experts have a guess from the fairly ordinary shot?

That's about my guess for each of the three. I won the first two, but I think that Woolf might be the best. For each of these auctions, the seller assured me there was no straw damage, so we'll see.

Sue is right Mario. If there is an original price that will help narrow it more. I'd say its mid-40s just prior to the Stetson purchase.

Great looking hat!

I saw the 3rd straw you listed in person. It was a nice weave and I couldn't find any damage. Did seem pretty dirty. I tried to get it. Had plans to send that one to Optimo...

Don't know if the hat still has the price tag attached, but according to the seller, the box that comes with it is still marked with the original $10.

Just won this 6 7/8 Mallory Ten in dark gray/charcoal with maroon colored ribbon and nice wide edge binding (I'm still on the roll) in matching color. Seems to be in absolutely immaculate condition without any stains or moth nibbles. At $129, this is by far the most expensive vintage hat I bought off the 'Bay. Quite substantial sum considering that it's a 6 7/8, but I somehow figured that the price would go pretty high on this one. I mean, just look at it! Brim is 2 3/4", crown rises 4 1/2" (creased). Original Mallory box is also included.

The seller dated the hat to the 1960s, but to me it looks more like 1950's. What do you think?

Going by the "since 1823" on the liner logo, it's before Stetson took control of the company, which happened in 1946.Once Stetson bought them out, the date on the liner appears to have changed to "since 1817" It doesn't look much earlier than 1946 to me, as far as the sweatband imprint goes, so I'd date in the 1940-46 time frame.

It's probably not very old, but the construction seems good. And it's in fine condition. Besides, I'm fine with a modern straw hat... as long as it is of good construction and looks good.

I'm not good at dating hats.. Can someone help? It looks to me like a 50's or 60's hat.

"Glenhurst Group of Companies" just sounds so modern...

Marc? Can you help with this one?

I saw Elvis this morning. He said some of his people had inadvertently listed somethings that he had wanted to keep. An honest mistake.

That is impossible! I know for a fact that he has already left the building!lol

Awesome Mario!! :eusa_clap

I had my eyes on that one but it was too small for me. I was watching at the end. Good sniper rifle you got there....scope?? I just bought a cousin of that hat off Ebay a few weeks ago. Sweatband had to go, so yours looks in better condition. I love it and I am sure you will, too. Congrats.

Thanks, Al. I'm pretty sure I will. I have another Mallory Ten from the 1950's, but that is a Pliafelt, while the one I just bought is 'Cravenette Processed', whatever this actually means (I know that it is Mallory's water repellency finish). That 50's Mallory is one of my faves. It's the one I'm wearing in my avatar.
