Dobbs Savoy

Just received my Dobbs Savoy today. First time posting as well. Great forum! I have been wearing a Lagomarsino I bought in my wifes native Argentina, but got the bug to get deeper into the Fedora world after watching old vintage tv shows on fancast like Alfred Hitchcock. Everyone looked so cool back then and the hats never go out of style. Anyway, my question. The Dobbs Savoy seems to be a cross between a standard Fedora and a Homburg. Is this accurate? Is the Savoy a type of hat as well or is it like the Trilby, still a Fedora but a type. Really want to get into Homburgs. The Savoy looks more like a Homburg to me than a trad Fedora. Anyway, I love it. The saville blue is almost black. Can combine with a lot. My wife is going to kill me when little boxes start showing up on the porch again. I am a steel guitar player in Central Florida and collect steel guitars as well. Gotta look good playin the steel, so here I am. Thanks for the opportunity to post, TC

Took the liberty to tilt the front brim down. Now it looks like more the traditional Fedora look. I am still quite new at this. Still looks like a cross between a Fedora and a Homburg. Then again I don't yet own a Homburg so I'll have to wait till I have one to compare. TC

Looks to be just a center dent crease on snap brim. A Homburg has the serious brim curl with wide edge binding & usually doesn't have side dents in the crown. This Dobbs just looks like a very conservative crease is all.

I went shopping today for my first fedora. A Dobbs Savoy was pretty much all they had in my size and color. It looked pretty good, but I decided to keep searching. Especially when the clerk said it was made of wool felt, not fur felt. Then got home and checked the store's website, which said it was fur felt. Not sure which is correct, but at this point I'll keep looking.
