For sure! It’s been a while sine I bought a new Vanson, but it seems like they were in a hurry when they made this one. Crooked label, extra liner bunched up in one corner, crooked adjustment belt on the side. Again, still loving it but not as clean looking as some of my other jackets, some which were a lot less expensive.
Is your chopper bought direct from Vanson?

I was a bit surprised, but I let it add to the character in my mind Plus, I got about 20 percent off due to COVID-19, so it was a really great deal and I’m happy to support a small business that I love. I didn’t see the commando, and I also didn’t notice the Colorado, which had the quilted shoulders and is in the CW. I may have to consider one. When I called initially to order a model e, but they were out with no timeline on my size being made

I have owned seven jackets made by Vanson, four of them I bought new and the other three were picked up here and from eBay. The quality on all of these jackets has been good but I had some similar issues with the first Vanson I purchased, which was the Enfield. Some of the seams were rather sloppy, and there were a couple panels at the front that had not been trimmed cleanly which led to some weird leather bulges around the zipper in front. None of this affected the function of the jacket at all but I was surprised because I had heard such good things about Vanson. All of the jackets I have bought since then have been much better and my last one, the Commando, is superbly constructed.
What does the commando look like? Is that your chopper in the avatar pic?

Yes, for the price you can't ask better jacket than Vanson.

The Commando is a collaboration that Vanson did with Left Field NYC. If you want one you would have to order it through Left Field.
The Colorado is an awesome jacket as well. I called Vanson a couple years ago to see about buying one and they did not have any in stock in my size nor were they planning to make them anytime soon, I ended up going with a CHP instead.

That seller is nuts with the prices. It was even cheaper when I posted it, then it got back to over 500 quid, THEN I got a msg offer for close to 380 GBP and now it's back to the price it's currently at.

All things considered, they might accept the 300 something offer, which would make a deal of the year.

I'd buy it but then again, I'd end up selling it because Lost Worlds.

I am ready to take the @navetsea challenge in my new Schott perfecto 618hh. I forgot how stiff and rigid a new jacket is.

Day 1 brand new:

Boy, this Navetsea challenge is a daunting task. I didn't think it was gonna be this grueling. I am a week into it. I basically put the jacket on right after work. I wear it about 2-6 hours on the weekdays and about 8-10 hours on the weekend.

My new 618 is not cooperating very well. I really don't remember my 2017 being this much of a challenge. I would say I have quite a bit to go in this break in process.

It looks better!!! It's getting there. Schott HH is a gift that keeps on giving. I haven't wore mine a lot at all because I have the worn in steerhide and I grab that one instead of a HH jacket. Which is why I need to sell it asap. The steer one, I mean, not the HH.

It is getting maybe a tad easier to wear. It was leaving red marks on the inside of my arms in the beginning. lol. When I first got it, the jacket was completely silent. After about 2 days this thing squeaks and creaks like a mofo. Kinda weird, not sure why.

I noticed your 613 has an American flag tag inside, what year is your model? According to Schott, you have HH tanned in the States, my 2020 comes from Italy, I guess.

How do you compare the steer against the horse. Any noticeable differences?

My regular 613 has a normal Schott tag...

And the HH 613 has this tag...

I'm pretty sure my jacket was made during the backing felt ear, when Schott would fuse something on the back of the HH to make it appear stiffer because it isn't really stiff at all and it's much more natural feeling than my later 618, albeit equally shiny. There isn't a "This jacket is made from imported material" tag anywhere in the 613 HH.

As for how do they compare... HH is definitely a... nicer hide. It's much more natural, softer, grain is clearer. It looks like some kinda delux version of the regular 613, that'd be the best description I can give you because in reality there isn't anything substantially different between the two leathers and most people won't ever notice the difference. Which is why Schott keeps them at the same price level, I believe.

@Monitor, Thanks. I thought your HH 613 was new. It LOOKS brand new to me. You need to get some wear on that sucka.

I think there is about a $75 upcharge for Schott horsehide over steer. They get their steer from the States, hence the American flag.

That's my biggest quarrel with Schott. All this mumbo jumbo about being an American company and they remove the flag and add imported materials tag. Disappointing. All though, I think their hh is amazing. Hopefully it will look a little better in weeks to come.

Just my weekly check in. Still going strong. This 618 does not want to yield. It is putting up a serious fight. I thought it was going to be a cake walk. I think I am going for the dunk tomorrow before the Browns game. I took a few more pics this time. They will be my "before" pics. Tomorrow morning I will totally submerge the jacket in cold water, then place it in the drier on "air fluff" setting for about 30 minutes. Then wear the jacket the rest of the day. I will try for some after pics, hopefully there will be a noticeable difference.
