That is one thing about hats I've read on several fashion and men's sites. I think on The Art of Manliness for one. A fedora will add a few inches to your perceived height, often projecting a more "masculine" image for the wearer.

Makes sense. As they say, perception is reality.

In early history much of head wear was geared around making soldiers seem larger. Hat are not really any different.

I think the only time hats make short guys look taller is when they aren't standing next to a tall guy.................................................or a woman.

My late grandfather was 6' 3" he was also a police officer, retiring just before WW2. The height of his police helmet, with his already significant height, must have been truly intimidating.
