Yeah, but they are all brands like Clarks, Donald J Pliner and Stuart Weitzman, brands my mother wears....modern shoes I like to buy the ones that are still made like vintage shoes, handmade, I find these wear better. Brands like Manolo Blahnik, Jimmy choo and Gucci still run narrow and are extreamly well made...the only time I wear modern shoes is with modern clothing. I don't think I could wear reproduction shoes with one of my vintage dresses....just dosn't seem kosher to me...

On the subject of beautiful shoes, here is a nice pair

Ah, Manolo. I have one pair of his, a nice taupe slingback, and a pair of italian handmade shoes. The Manolos I bought at a second hand shop in Boston, the handmades in Boston at Filene's basement. Both were around $100, a STEAL!

But, NicolettaRose, you're lucky to have narrow feet and probably could make out like a bandit on ebay if you're searching for vintage. I can't believe you can't find pumps like the ones you posted, they look very classic to me. Personally my repros tend to come from Target or Payless, or if you can afford it, go for Remix.

Sometimes we have to make sacrifices. I'd rather wear a comfortable pair of repros with a vintage dress than be barefoot because I can't find a proper fitting pair of vintage shoes.

There are a lot of very cute vintagey shoes being offered. As for the ones you posted, I'm not a big fan of animal print anything. I just think it's kind of tacky. And I'm really glad that the pointy toe shoe trend went out of style last year. I just find them to be so funny looking.
I love all the vintage inspired shoes that I have. So many different brands are making them. Lets face it, we live in 2007 and although I'd love to be able to find a pair of vintage shoes to go with every vintage outfit, sometimes thats just not possible.

I'm actually surprised you picked such a modern looking pair of shoes, being that you said you don't really wear modern clothes any more. I mean, the shoes you picked are the farthest thing from vintage I could think of. Just an observation. You also should have no problem finding vintage shoes, being that you have narrow feet. A majority of the vintage shoes I come across are extremely narrow. I'm beginning to wonder if you might have something wrong with your computer. You keep saying that you have trouble finding things online, yet when we do searches for those exact things, tons of options come up. Maybe you aren't using a good search engine, but it just seems like something is wrong. I did a search on Zappos for narrow shoes and a lot more than "shoes my mom wears" came up.

By the way, there seem to be a lot of places that still make custom made shoes. Just did a search for "custom made shoes" and came up with this http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt...custom+made+shoes&ei=UTF-8&fr=yfp-t-501&x=wrt
I'm sure you could refine your search by searching for a certain style of custom made shoes. But just wanted to let you know that there are still plenty of places out there that do this.

Anyone wear saddle shoes? I have been thinking about getting a pair to wear with some of my 1940's dresses
I bought some awhile back and have not found the right outfit to wear them with. Payless sells them for $15, which are the ones I have by Predictions, but silly me paid more for them on ebay.
My golf shoes are saddle shoes so that's the only time I wear saddle shoes (while playing golf).

Make that four pair of shoes are to be arriving Thursday. Thanks, Daisy.

 This thread is going to break my bank account. Daisy, those are delicious. I'm sorta hoping this thread will get merged with the other shoe thread so I'm not tempted into buying some Fluevogs

Oh. My. Word.

Must stop looking at shoes. My husband will absolutely *kill* me! Hmm...maybe if I purge some of my older shoes he won't notice the new ones....

Sling back challenged

Daisy Buchanan said:

Daisy, those are so cute. I have a problem, though - I love slingbacks, but they fall right off my feet; the strap will just not stay in place on my ankle. It is not a question of the strap being too loose - any kind of sling back does this to me :( Does anyone else have this problem? I'd love to find a solution.

Don't worry, you aren't alone! I have very weird shaped heels, so I have trouble wearing sling backs because they just slide off my heels. I haven't found a solution yet - I wonder if there are some sort of inserts for this type of problem...off to google! :)

Ooh...maybe this site will have some answers!

This is the pair I intended to limit myself to, but I checked back this morning and the price had gone from about $60 to $20!!! And they still had some in my size, so I knew I had to snap them up immediately.
And this:
http://tinyurl.com/ys5mma in red and this:

http://tinyurl.com/2bdrjg in black.

So all three for less than $70!! And I should have them tomorrow.

It looks like this is an amazon-affiliated site (as in, owned/run by the same group), and they're working on becoming the new zappos.com. The site is still beta, hence a few bugs (if you have a specific search set up and you click on a shoe and then go back to the search page, you lose the seach parameters and have to set it up again). The only thing they really lack is the review section, which I like a lot on zappos.

Man, you can't beat these prices. I'm going to continue to watch and see if my other pair of much-wanted shoes goes on sale....

I'm so glad I was able to pass this along. You guys have already pointed out so many other really great pairs I had missed.

I've used the strappy strips to tighten up some of my looser sling backs. They worked pretty well, and also added some cushion making the shoe more comfortable. They sell them at the Naturalizer store and at some pharmacies.
