Autumn weather at last!

Today we got our first hint of autumn weather. The leaves are just starting to turn color. When I woke up I was pleased to find a pleasant nip in the air and drizzly conditions outside. The first sign that summer is on its way out. It felt good to swap out my Panama and put on my Borsalino. At this point, it is an old friend. Commuting to work, I was a little surprised that mine was the only fedora that I saw, as it was perfect hat-wearing conditions. (I did see one newsboy cap and one beret.) Anyway, Vienna is a fairly fedora friendly town, so I'm sure as autumn starts to sink in its teeth I will see more. October first marks the day when roasted chestnut vendors appear on street corners. Am I crazy? But I'm actually looking forward to breaking out my leather jackets, trench coat, and various hats.

And many of us prefer the clothes of the cooler seasons as well! In lower temperatures, adjusting one's thermal comfort by means of clothing is easy; in higher temperatures it is difficult and may be impossible.

I love summer and hot/warm weather and I like summer fashion but I dont care for my summer straws as much as I enjoy my fur felts.

I've been looking forward to cooler weather so I have more choices in hats. I only have 2 straw hats; started the summer with only 1.

So we've got clouds and a little rain today but heading back towards the 80's soon enough. Summer's last grasp at holding on.

Fall/Winter is when my hats come in that have been ordered in the last few months since June; 3 customs and a factory/production Everyman from Penman Hats.... Dark Moss, Granite/light gray, Pecan and Black Cherry. Sounds fun!

I can tell ya one thing, fellas. It's gonna be a cold and snowy winter in the Midwest, just like the Farmer's Almanac predicted. I always go by the animals, and if the squirrels are packing up early, it's gonna be bad. And they are doing plenty of preparation up this year. Makes me wonder if it's gonna be an early chilly autumn.
