Gray Straw Hat
I really need a gray straw hat. Right now, I'm getting by with two natural Panamas with black ribbons and a brown Milan from Miller Hats. Any suggestions?
I gave mine a modified Maltese Falcon bash. Instructions are on another thread. Sorry, I don't remember exactly where. This is one of my top two or three favorite hats.
Agreed because, in my mind, I wear the hat outside, when, obviously, I am also wearing the overcoat. Inside, I take the hat and overcoat off. It makes more sense to match the hat and overcoat.
As for gray, it depends on the shade. A black-toned gray calls for gray or black hat. A brown-tone...
Here's a pic of my carbon grey Stylemaster. Great hat. Wears well. Wore it last evening to hit some Nashville bars with some buddies. It's a good bar hat.
I agree with the advice to remember that fedoras weren't considered dress items during the time they were worn regularly. I wear my hats with whatever I'm wearing.

I took a shot on a hat listed as having been made by a small, now-defunct hatter in West Virginia. It was $26 with shipping. I exchanged several emails with the seller to ensure the hat was fur, etc. She told me it was a size 7 1/2. She never did tell me the circumference...

IMHO, it's better to pay a little extra money to get a quality fur felt hat than it is to buy cheap. The hat will fit better, feel better, and last longer. You'll save money in the long run. Also, a good fur...
