Based on info from The Lounge, this Adam probably dates from 1959.

Adam Executive. This one has "Eva-Shape Processed" on the sweatband, which I haven't seen on the others posted -- anyone else have this? Price $7.50. Most intelligent wind trolley design I've seen yet: with the button sewn to the hat, and the loop of the cord anchored to this -- doesn't slip or fall off.

Thank you! Spent a fair bit of time yesterday re-shaping it. (It was nice when it arrived, but a bit too perfect -- I prefer things hand-bashed.)

Re-posted from the new hats thread.
Here is my an Adam Executive Mainliner - A strat clone. (Thanks buler!)
The felt is lovely, thin & supple, holds the crease well. Not in perfect condition, but that will just mean I wear it more!

I also have two more Adam's on the way.

Good job gang!

Man, it's been a while since I've looked in on this neck of the woods. There are some mighty fine examples of Adam's around here. Makes me want another one just to round out the collection. Many of the offerings on ebay though have been lack luster & I think I'll have a hard time finding something similar to my first, & for 10 clams to boot. But, one must never give up, & judging by the examples here there are plenty of beauties out there just waiting to be found & worn again. :)

Cheers!

Dan

Posted this in the new hats thread. This one is Executive quality and has Sundial under the sweat - model name?
It's a really nice light green (colour's most like the 4th picture), and has a very interesting brim treatment with a very thin binding and an extra row of stitching.
Thanks again Razzman!

Adam Executive Qualitity OR Clone

Here is one of the latest from JohnnyPhi. Since I work in NOVA I picked it up at the warehouse along with a few other gems.

Adam Mainliner (Executive Quality), size 7 1/4 LO. This one has extremely thin super pliable felt. It came open crown and can be easily creased and dented any which way. Very nice for summer wear.

Beautiful, would have loved to have snagged that one.
Is it a Mainliner (my Mainliner has the same has the same liner and sweatband markings and the felt is lovely and thin as you describe) - it should say on the tag under the sweat?

Edit: I also have 7 on the way so hoping to share more with you soon. Still think this thread needs to be named the Adam Family!

Adam Royal Quality

Another new old stock Adam Royal Quality from JohnnyPhi. Size 7 3/8 with the typical stiff thin felt found on many Adam and Lee hats.

Yes it is a Mainliner. I will edit my post with that information.

You are going to be a very happy man when your hats arrive!

Great thanks! Varies in design slightly to mine which is interesting.

For info, I believe that the first I believe to be late 40's very early 50's. The second is early 50's.

I've pulled about 20-25 pages of research together on Adam Hats so far, and once I've finished it I hope to have a time line of their history and prices.
Still trying to obtain some copies of newspaper ads that have been referenced and hope to get some trademark info soon as well.

Enjoy them, love mine and they are my favourites.

Adam Pacesetter Sand

Latest JohnnyPhi, Adam Pacesetter, size 7 3/8, color sand. Again the typical thin stiff felt. I really love the color and style (block ribbon, slightly lower crown and brim width) of this hat.

Yes they are very stylish. I also have a early 60s Adam porkpie.

I agree about your dating. The Pacesetter I just posted looks late 50s.

Looking forward to your Adam research.

Yes that looks about right. After Miller Bros. acquired them in 55 they for a while had it on the name on the sweat, the sweat seemed to shrink tin the late fifties then they stopped putting on the Miller Bros name, seems by 63/64 ish they made the sweat bands black. There do seem to be slight variations, but yours seems to fit into the late fifties/early sixties timeframe.
