The Traveller has always sparked my interest but I was also turned off by the (relatively) large brim size for what I would use as a business hat.
Aside from the brim size, what are your general impressions of the hat? How packable/stowable is it?
Does the wire placement preclude further...
Not saying that this hat falls into this category, but watch out for "fake" Akubras out of China. They have even copied the Akubra liner design. I have seen some of these pop-up on eBay as of late.
BTW, I have two Banjo Paterson Heritage felt hats among by growing Akubra collection. While the...
Looks good hottoddy. Is that 'Bluegrass Green"? Everything Australian has the BG Stylemaster listed as one of their options, albeit with the three month wait. While we see lots of BG Camp Drafts on this forum (and for very good reason!), I do not remember anyone ever posting a green Stylemaster.
Wow, someone should snap these up - especially the Banjo. Of all my hats I tend to wear my Banjos (size 60) the most. Moderate taper, great (fawn) color, and Heritage felt. This hat works in so many ways.
Received my Blugrass Green Camp Draft and Fawn Capricorn from EA today as well. Both the package and hats are in perfect condition. These size 60 Akubras are bigger out of the box than my previous seven size 60s (including two other Camp Drafts). I usually have to put one felt strip in and...
Good job on the bash. That hat and color suits you very well (heck, it looks better on you than it does me!)
Somehow I get the feeling it may not be your last CD.
Enjoy!
Guess I can relate. I own a Toyota 4Runner (one of the best off-road 4WD vehicles ever made). I work and am in contact with many Japanese colleagues. Can't say even one owns or has owned a 4Runner and they are only manufactured in Japan. Then again, Japan is small country and I doubt...
Hi monbla.
I suspect you are leary of ordering a hat from OZ. It's really not a big deal. I ordered twice from Hats Direct and once from EA and had the hats from both within 2 weeks. I even bought a hat from a fellow lounger located in Australia and it in less than two weeks. You are missing...
In general I would concur. The Camp Draft is a very versatile hat. I own both Silverbelly and Taupe Fawn Camp Drafts, with a Bluegrass Green to arrive any day now. My next hat is going to be a dark brown, primarily for outdoor use. I tend to favor lighter brown/tan hats for general everyday use...
Very nice. These photos of the Bluegrass-Green model are great and really whet my appetite.. My BGCD is due the end of next week sometime. I will bash it the same way (teardrop) I did my Silverbelly and Taupe Fawn.
Thanks Neo.
I like the fawn color as well but as you point out, the dark brown represents a void in my collection. You do need to get a Silverbelly CD as well. The BG model looks good on you and the Silverbelly would present even more ensemble options for wear.
I knew I would like my...
Well until either yesterday or today, the EA website listed the BGCD out of stock in several sizes, including 59 and 60. ( I have been following their website/stock status several times per week for the past couple of months). They must have just gotten in a shipment and/or updated their...
I ordered a size 60 BGCD (along with a Fawn Capricorn) from EA last week. I was fully prepared to endure the touted three month wait but yesterday I received an email from Sam saying both hats were shipped.
Aside from the Bushman (only available from David Morgan), all of the other Akubras on...
Darn, wish you had posted even one day earlier. After debating it for a a few months, last night I ordered the same hat (color and size) from Everything Australian (along with a poly Fawn Capricorn). According to the website, size 60 is out of stock. When did you order your hat? I could have...
Impulse buy my a--" James! You have been looking and talking about that one for awhile! Looking good, as always. I really like my Moonstone Stylemaster as well - my wife's favorite hat.
As a relatively "new" Akubra wearer, I own both styles - 3 Stylemasters and 2 Campdrafts (so far). I concur with Jim, I like my Stylemasters, but wear them for work and when wearing suits, sportcoats, and dressier overcoats. The Campdrafts go well with anything, but look better with more casual...
