The jackets look great.
I know it's something I need to get over, but I still have trouble laying out good money for garments manufactured anywhere in Asia besides Japan. A jacket made in South Korea may be amazing in every regard, but for me it won't have the prestige or appeal as one made in...
I like the cut and the thick, practical lower pockets. The color looks unique.
In the FAQ section of their website, they're up front about where the jackets are made.
Generally speaking, and there may be exceptions, the jackets they carry tend to be poorly cut. You can expect an Orvis leather jacket to fit like a tent. Many have low arm-holes with lots of extra underarm leather that, on the few occasions I've tried one on at my local Orvis, made me feel like...
I don't mean like a Schott Perfecto, where the 'belt' in back is right at the bottom of the jacket and where the style in general is more of a dedicated moto style. I feel like there is an implicit understanding that a half-belt features a rear sewn-in belt piece that is somewhere in the middle...
A humble question on what defines a half-belt....
Are jackets that feature a sewn-in belt in back but then a true belt extending from the sides and clasping in front considered half-belts? Or are those considered fully-belted jackets (and thus a different species?)
Looking forward to seeing photos of that new custom!
No need to fear the parade - I think Technovox lives right in the city and the north end of Polk will be far away from the action. Maybe pick up the jacket, wander down to Market, and start breaking it in shoulder to shoulder with Giants...
That could be an interesting model for an affiliate thread: pics of jackets only (with basic specs) and no commentary on either end. Just showcasing the wares and letting photos alone drive hype.
Hard to tell, but the bottom rear strip or mock kidney belt looks a little shorter in height than the stock m-200. Did you request that? It may just be an illusion due to the added length. Either way, for a non-riding jacket, I prefer the overall proportions on yours.
The leather looks so nice. Also, the fit looks better in these photos than in the first ones you posted. How does it feel to you after wearing it a bit longer?
It might be easier to judge the back if your hands were at your sides in the last pic, but in general I think the jacket looks...
Good advice. I'm going to have to remember that quote!
Still, I think it will look a lot neater with that 'tad' taken in at the sides. They know what they're doing at JL and as long as they have his hip measurements it shouldn't be hard to nip it in a touch at the midsection and still leave...
Sounds good.
Given this is a recent custom job, you should probe to see how much of the modification cost might be absorbed by JL as part of the custom process. I certainly don't know. But it's possible he might charge you little or nothing for the slimming. The windflap is a different issue...
Hm, maybe you'e giving up on this jacket too soon? If you haven't already, you might want to send the photos of you wearing the jacket to Johnson Leathers. Explain your concerns and see what they say. Without a doubt, it will be much less expensive to modify this jacket than to start over. I...
