If you're planning to leave the ribbon on the hat, a little dabbing with water should work (as the others have mentioned).
If you're pulling the band off the hat, you can use some white vinegar and water. That's always worked well for me.
This is true, yet this is not a hard-fact. This could change if a population were so inclined. Unfortunately, the West is not currently at that point in its decision making.
True again. If, for instance, the whole of England decides it's not making enough money selling Widgets, and instead...
It brings us to another similar fallacy, the Luddites: If we create a machine that makes underwear, then all of the workers who handstitch underwear will be out of business. So if Acme Underwear Inc. employs 300 underwear stitchers and they purchase 3 underwear machines which will do all the...
Yes, this is true. I own a JBank seersucker and it's not all too bad.
Whatever you do, don't ask their tailor to put suspender buttons in - having your own tailor do that. JBank tailors use cheap white buttons to match the band, and they break quick.
I'm personally in favor of the EU - I think it's an excellent idea. That doesn't mean it's working excellently right now, and I think there's a long road ahead for it to function correctly, but everyone must stumble along the way.
Regarding "money sent overseas", this is a "Broken Window"...
Bruce, how do you like it? I have two of the Stanley thermoses built in the USA (prior to the Chinese takover). They work very well, and in my experience far better than the Chinese ones - of which, I've thrown two away.
How does this one hold up? Improved quality? How many quarts is the...
As the others have said, you'll need quite a bit of experience to be able to look at an item and say, "That's vintage!" It's not as simple as looking for a few key elements, although those are certainly good starting points.
You can brush up on knowledge by pouring over old catalogs from...
Here we are 9 months later from our last post...
The EU is holding tight while Greece burns, Spain and Italy are saying prayers and hoping for the best. Germany is doing really well...until their exports dry up completely because the rest of the EU suffers.
Egypt, Libya, and Syria are on...
Personally, I like to tie it as best I can and check on it periodically. I find the trick is to not worry about it too much. Then again, I get a little fussy about things anyway.
I purchased a few tropical weight wools from JBank in May and just had them back from the tailor.
While the lapels are certainly wide enough for my taste, they are most definitely of modern size and woefully skinny compared to a solid 30's suit. I'll have to measure next time I think of it...
I think Religion and Politics are great discussions to have - in a group of friends. Once strangers are introduced, or perhaps people who you are not intimate, things can lead to hurt feelings and outright rudeness.
The art of conversation is slowly fading. There's no need anymore. Attention...
Not stirring the pot, not beating a dead horse. Just thought this LiveScience article might add to the discussion:
Sexy Advertising On the Rise
Notice the disparity between "sexy" women used in advertising versus "sexy" men. The whole thing makes me sick, personaly, but I guess that's why...
On one hand, I think we are evolving as a society - right or wrong, good or bad. I think certain words are losing validity, others are losing meaning, while others like "please" and "thank you" are losing relevancy. This is a transitional period and for better or worse, the old ways are becoming...
