You will definitely feel that way with modern cut clothes - even men's modern suiting. I know I felt that way when I was hiking up modern cut suits and telling the tailor to lower the cuffs. In fact, I was pretty bummed out that I couldn't see myself wearing anything at my waist because it just...
There are a number of issues that have rendered customer service into an entirely new beast.
1. (I hate to bring this from another thread) Consumerism vs. Capitalism - when ACME knows you're going to buy their product one way or the other, or when their products have little difference in...
Annixter, I think I'll give that a try. I believe I have some Old Spice lying around that needs used up.
therizyflapper, your smileys are abundant. I wonder if you smile that much in person! ;)
I've owned both linen and silk.
Silk tends to wrinkle terribly, is difficult to clean and stains like the dickens. It is a cool wearing fabric, but tends to work better in blends. If I had a choice between a silk shirt and a wool shirt, I'd rather sweat knowing my shirt would last the summer...
Been a while since I've last posted in here. I've started a more thorough editing process on one book, which included adding a "foreword" chapter which of course, is also part of the fiction to help open the story.
I've also started baking a couple newer ideas for an adult oriented...
Same thing happened to me, John. I switched to Old Spice for years until it started again. That's what got me over to Brut.
I'll probably eventually have to switch to one of these homemade things.
There are number of things I haven't seen mentioned in this particular thread. First is the tendency to keep these clothes PRISTINE in appareance and cleanliness. I've known a few fellows that spent $150 on a pair of tennis shoes and when those shoes were scuffed that night at the club, these...
I've checked most regular deodorants and I have trouble finding ones WITHOUT aluminum - yes, deodorants, not ap's.
I use Brut spray because there's no aluminum.
Cordovan wingtips are a timeless classic. They look good with grays, blues, browns, greens and pretty much anything other than black.
Bostonians are a fair brand on par with Johnston&Murphy. Just below those is Cole Haan, then Florsheim. This is all assuming we're talking the $150-180 price...
I agree with you here. We can't know everything. If we are going to take pills for shaky legs, or eat genetically modified crops, or wear nano-particle-sprayed clothes, we have to rely on an expert who is going to verify these things are safe. Unfortunately, that's the very weakness that some...
Lizzie, the lady and I have been discussing finding ways to turn rotary phones, or even crank phones (Stromberg Carlson Model 1248, to be exact) into functional outgoing lines via cellular technology. She knows quite a bit more about it than I do (I still hate cell phones), but we've gone into...
So I guess for the purposes of my brief example, an AMERICAN child from the ages of 15-18 could have possibly made the $200 shoe that the corpulent Taiwanese man purchases, instead of buying a more reliable, repairable shoe. In any case, the $200 spent is still $200 wasted.
I consider anyone under 18 a child, so if the shoes are made by a 15 year old...[huh]
And regarding Taiwan - yes - they manufacture Nike shoes:
The Manufacturing Practices of the Footwear Industry: Nike vs. the Competition
"Their majority of their output today is produced in factories in...
You're right, we should throw everything away as soon as the marked-on label says it's expired. Then we should feel fortunate as we pile into Wal-Mart and purchase a newer, better, safer, shinier version.
What if, say, dishwasher production wound down? What if companies had to sell fewer...
Noir, everything you said in your response is indicative of clever marketing. Let me ask you something: have you ever personally performed laboratory tests in which you measured the lifespan of plastic in open-air landfill conditions? And if so, what was the data you obtained? Or haven't you...
lol
After bringing this thread up to the honey, we tooled around a few Minneapolis streets with our eyes peeled. Thus, I learned there is a difference between "tights" and "yoga pants", although I couldn't say with certainty that the difference is profound. Apparently, quite a few Minneapolis...
Ironrite "Mangle" Iron. Acquired it from a friend when he sold me his house. Left it in the basement of that house when I sold it. It was too heavy...:eusa_booh
I guess I should have left out the morbid comic relief from my rant. Naturally, no one will deem you a sociopath for not buying an iPad. On the other hand, there was a time when someone would ask me what my cell number was and I would say, "I don't own a cell phone." I wouldn't just...
