Absolutely. One of the frequently encountered items on trade lists taken to the mountains by the fur trade companies in the early 19th century was shades of various types. If you've every had snow blindness, you can guess why.
Growing up in 50's and 60's Texas and New Mexico, the working cowboys - those who made a living as ranch hands - wore Levis mostly, sometimes Lees. I never saw jeans for sale anywhere then and there other than these two brands.
You said it Warbaby. Nobody should be surprised by this. It is only the tip of a huge and deep iceberg. I am 59 and have never had a credit card, have no debts and happily thumb my nose at Big Brother in whatever little ways I can find. If I don't have the cash, I can't afford it, don't need it...
Anybody in Canada or US who wants to send me a $20 MO to cover postage gets a Pentax KM, which is a k1000 with depth of field preview and a Pentax 55mm 1:2 lens. The self timer is wonky and the camera needs a new mirror. Other than those issues, the unit is excellent cosmetically and has seen...
Some great gats. As to the lawdog files and him talking about pearl grips, when I was growing up in West Texas they were verbotten. My parents always said George Patton opined that peal grips only belonged on a "pimp gun.":)
Thank you Paddy.:eusa_clap When I brought this up months ago I caught all sorts of flack. Still can't figure out why folks refuse to keep this thread and others "vintage." There's all sorts of other sites where a guy could show off his plastic and titanium firearms. And, yes, I know there's all...

Interesting to see that wide ribbon on such a big western. What...
I third or fourth or whatever the Tilley. I have one which I don't wear often because I only find leather sweats really comfortable, but when it's really hot, and I'm out in the canoe it's great. One can dunk it in the water and put it on again for great relief. A big favourite with the Canadian...
Thanks and right back at ya. My dad always wore silver belly OR's one of which I still have and wear. He also had a OR style Borsalino which he bought some time in the fifties and never wore it was always in its box on a shelf in his closet. I have it and wear it. He was a gentleman like they...
Sorry, Lonny can't help. But great advice here on getting as far from the guy you bought this "hat" from as possible. Custom makers like Art are a good bet, but on my budget I like cruising the classifieds here or ebay and buying beautiful old lids of top quality for under a hundred bucks.
