    The Adventurer's Gear Thread

I thought the ski clothing and such was presented in the context of getting out in the woods doing cross-country and things. Skiing as an outdoor woods activity or more on point, as a means of getting out to winter camp, sightsee, bird or hunt. Tennis and anything played on a pitch, indoor...

    What Are You Reading

The briefs throughout that case were fun reads, especially Heller's side. As a gun nut, looking at all the possible angles they could have used, they walked a fine and humorous line. They left the Court room to go as limited or broad as they choose. DC's brief read as defensive, desperate...

    What Are You Reading

I have not, but I will. Read Wills "Why I am a Catholic". He delves deeply into church history and the development of the Papacy. Interesting study of a man balancing faith and reason and examining doctrine by looking at the evolution of the church.

    What Are You Reading

I am so looking forward to that decision in June. Not just for the (probable) effect, but because it is such a chance for a fresh, direct look at a seldom directly addressed Constitutional area. A real chance for a substantive addition to Con. Law texts.

Also had one growing up. Having lost it I now have no way to follow Captain Walker to Tomorrow Morrow Land.

    What do you look like?

Have to say, I don't think of "Australia" and "overcoats" simultaneously much. Australia and Wicked Weasel, I can think of that combo all day. ;) Seriously though, how cold does winter get in Melbourne? [huh]

    Madonna's Panama Question

Got here late. Cheap hat, might as well have a Cuervo stamp on it. I do like the fact she chose to wear one at all. Cheap or not, more hats = better. hatsdirect seems to have a regular Spring sale on perfectly nice "single season" straw fedoras that look much nicer than that one for...

    Military experiences.

I joined the service because I wanted to serve, like all of my male ancestors. The Marines in particular because with my vision I couldn't fly and didn't have a degree so I'd be painting the ship, not driving it. So, if I was going to be using my feet, I wanted to be the baddest creature on...

    Military experiences.

There are an awful lot of Marines on here. The rest of services may use this thread to support those allegations of vanity. :D

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

One thing about "The Interpreter", which I enjoyed. Sean Penn is a SS agent, it's actually (I believe) the State Department's Diplomatic Security Service that would have been called in. I only know they exist because a good friend of mine became one.

    Madras... too much?

Tan Khakis look odd with the white and blue. Maybe it's just me. ...it's probably just me. I need the white linen in any event. I was also thinking a light grey? Light blue seems too '70s somehow. But I'm willing to accept being wrong about that as well. :D

    Madras... too much?

I just need to get some appropriate pants (other than jeans) to go with my seersucker jacket. Nothing seems to look "right". I noticed land's end had SS trousers. Oh, I'd wear the hell out of that jacket. C'mon stimulus check.

    Filtering Vodka

Activated charcoal can be eaten as is. In a slurry it is used as a counter for drinking certain caustics, if I remember correctly. Typically the charcoal in a filter is contained in something that would remove the dust. A coffee filter would do it. Just use the basket and a filter from...
