I like St. Louis Blues, Am I Blue?, Red Lips (Kiss My Blues Away), You're the Cream in My Coffee/Annette Hanshaw, Only Have Eyes for You/Dick Powell (I love just about anything from the Warren and Dubin team), The Music Goes Round and Round/Boswell Sisters, and Fly Me to the Moon/Frank Sinatra.
I find that's often what happens when I go places too. In California I rarely needed a coat - it hardly ever got cold enough to me to merit wearing one, and when it did the exposure to the outdoors just wasn't long enough to bother putting one on. Here in England it's a different story though...
It's so interesting to read about veterans people knew. My great grandparents and grandparents were lucky and born at just the right time to skip both World Wars. I have a huge admiration for those who fought in the war and those who supported them (medical officers, munitions workers, etc.)...
I love hats. I hardly ever wear them though, because I never feel like they match with what I'm wearing. I wear jeans most days, and find that when I put a hat on and look in the mirror, the hat looks too dressy or nice.
Hey, that's pretty good - I'd agree with everything except the sensitive to noise and maybe the love outdoor sports. Thanks for the analysis! :) And as far as handwriting analysis goes I'd say bring the bad with the good.
And then I realized it was all lies. :) I think my handwriting looks too careful because I knew it was going to be read by someone other than me.
That's from some notes I took a week or two ago. For some reason that looks a lot more like my handwriting to me.
Don't give him your time of day. Letting him know years later how he affected you is, in my opinion, almost giving his high school self a small belated victory. If he hasn't changed I pity his students, but it would be nice to think he has grown up some. I would say only contact him if you...
At the moment I'm reading "Hollywood Goes to War" by Clayton Koppes and Gregory Black.
Oh, that is such a good book! I'd eventually like to get around to reading more of Michael Chabon's work.
Hey, I think I went there when I was little! I wish I remembered it though, this one's definitely a case of photographic memory (in the "photo" sense of the word!)
I think this was taken there:
When it comes to memory, if I can easily envision watching myself doing something as if I were...
That reminds me of how Doris Lessing in her autobiography "Under My Skin" describes her earliest years. She has some interesting thoughts on the way in which people remember their early years.
When I was 1 1/2 or so my parents moved to a different house. Whenever anyone would talk about the...
A bit foggy, but I think I was watching TV with my parents when I found about Princess Diana's death. I can remember the TV footage clearly.
For 9/11 - when I got dropped off at school I ran into one of my friends on the way into class. The first thing she said to me was, "Did you hear...
I watched it a couple of months ago and really enjoyed it. It's not my favorite of period flicks, but I'd classify it as a fun movie that I'd definitely watch again. I think it's a shame the lead actor hasn't been in more films.
