    The best stuff for my hair, which is thinner than yours and combed straight back is Alberto xtra hold styling gel. It drys on your hair so it's not a classic pomade, but it's the best for me out of many I've tried over many years. 0 stink'um as well.

    When I encounter these I usually remove the feather and replace with a small fishing fly. A couple of my other hats have a bit of grouse or hawk feather, but just a small bit. On a Sunday-go-to-meetin' hat, nothing A-tall.

    My whole house is a manroom/study. I occasionally will look up and see it thru the eyes of someone not used to it and kinda smile. I get away with it because I'm now a bachelor. Everywhere is tools, guns, bows, Indian arts and crafts, leather, tobacco stuff, books, woodstove, outdoor art etc etc...
