The best stuff for my hair, which is thinner than yours and combed straight back is Alberto xtra hold styling gel. It drys on your hair so it's not a classic pomade, but it's the best for me out of many I've tried over many years. 0 stink'um as well.
Personally, I don't like fedoras or any of that type of hat on a woman. The only man's hat I like on the fairer sex is a beret, and the right woman in one of those just knocks me out. Sexiest headgear a woman can wear.
When I encounter these I usually remove the feather and replace with a small fishing fly. A couple of my other hats have a bit of grouse or hawk feather, but just a small bit. On a Sunday-go-to-meetin' hat, nothing A-tall.
Hi All. I recently bought a NOS Samsung NV10 camera. 10 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, lots of digital zoom, Schneider-Kreuznach lens. These sold for around $300 when new in '06. I got about a dozen pics with it, then I tried a shot down a creek with the sun coming up and I fried something so the...
My whole house is a manroom/study. I occasionally will look up and see it thru the eyes of someone not used to it and kinda smile. I get away with it because I'm now a bachelor. Everywhere is tools, guns, bows, Indian arts and crafts, leather, tobacco stuff, books, woodstove, outdoor art etc etc...
My dark blue one suits me fine and I believe them to be the best winter headgear out there 'till it gets cold enough you need a parka hood. Even then you can just pull the hood over the cap. Sure glad they still make them. Had a plaid Canadian made knock off for a couple of years, but me EX wife...
Thanks DG. I wuz out today for the first day and all Annie and I could turn up wuz one lousy little spruce grouse that rode home in my canvas vest. Game was just not moving at all, at all. Sounds like the Barbour is better suited to Sloane Square than the game fields. I wonder if I should use it...
Thanks Gents for the good insights. In warmish weather I use a canvas vest with game pouch and that works great, I'd only use the Barbour if it were raining, temps would probably be in Teens C. I actually have a small flask sized freezer pack that is made for lunch boxes, hadn't even though of...
Grouse season opens here on Friday and was thinking of wearing my Barbour Beaufort I got last Spring, but today I noticed that the game bag seems to be a rubberized nylon. This time of year things are relatively warm and I'm wondering if the lack of breathability of the game bag so constructed...
If I lived near enough, I'd march right over there, fork over the cash and ride. Beautiful bike, would cost you at the very minimum 5k in these parts. What a deal.
Got an email back today from Speidel and they say their first, "scissors" xpansion band came out in 1936, the twisto flex, just as Sarge said, '59. I wear it left wrist, crystal down, brown leather most of the time. Still not completely weaned from the pocket watch.
Over night I remembered a great book I have called "Camping in the Old Style,"
by a fellow called David Wescott, published by Gibbs-Smith, P.O. Box 667, Layton, Utah, 84041, came out in 2000. Orders: 1 800 748-5439.
If you can find this book, it will address all questions and much arcana...
Thanks Sarge, I looked at that site, noted that date as well, but am not sure if the Twist o Flex was their first expandable bracelet band? Sure looks as though you've nailed it down. Thanks again.
I must demure strongly from the nay-sayers. Good canvas properly handled and sewn will make superior tents as well as many other things. OLD canvas will rot, for sure. New, quality canvas is wonderful stuff when properly constructed of good cotton. In the States and Canada there are heaps of...
That's an extraordinary set of Colts.
I've recently bought a couple of nice SLE doubles, a 12 and a 16, am hoping to figure my new digital camera out soon and will try to get pics up here.
The 12 is a fully engraved Zabala Hermanos and the other is a Brno ZP47 which I feel is one of the...
Thanks John. Do you think it's safe to infer that expandables were in use in the late thirties and/or that the one that came with my late thirties Bulova could be original to that watch?
Thanks guys. Makes sense and it's simple and easy. As to bracelet bands, my Dad wore one on his Omega for it's ease of use, but sort of always considered he was doing something he really shouldn't. Personally I like leather better anyway so it's no sacrifice for me. Looks great too as it sets...
