I'd add a slew of post-1959 movies, among them:
"Lawrence of Arabia"
"Dr. Strangelove"
"Network"
"Being There" (The Greatest Generation's funeral dirge, as far as I'm concerned.)
"The Player"
Sometimes the elderly 'firsthand' owners of vintage pieces don't correctly remember when or where they were used. IMO, this suit was made later than 1926; I stand by my 1930s estimate.
Funny you should say that. The original plan was to wear a pair of1920s knicker socks (see below), but I couldn't get them in time for last Saturday's event:
Plan "B" was to get hold of a pair of lovat blue kilt socks that would match my lovat blue wool necktie. Unfortunately, L.A.'s...

This is a good one. Once part of a suit, but can be worn as a sportcoat:

It's outstanding! A fuzzy wool hopsack wool with bright flecks: how could it get better than that? :eusa_clap
And the wool weave on this black '30s DB suit, offered by the same seller, is rare and wonderful...
Terrified me when I first saw it too. Are American movies like "Network" being made anymore? Is there any "Dr. Strangelove" for today? Any "Being There"?

So was Faye Dunaway ... and William Holden ... and Ned Beatty, whose character ("Arthur Jensen") scares the bejesus out of me. He knows exactly how to bend Peter Finch's character to his will.

Arguably the coolest 1940s bow tie ever made: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-40s-50s-Silk-Bow-Tie-Painted-Fishing-Scene-Theme-/230749595930?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item35b9bf691a
Or as Django Reinhardt in "Midnight in Paris"?
Not to mention Sean Penn as Django in "Sweet and Lowdown" (1999): http://www.sonyclassics.com/sweetandlowdown/stillsclips/stills/penn-bw1.jpg
