    What are you wearing today??

Whew! ;) (Except that I don't know how to golf. But the rest of it is true!)

What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

For me too. The only other lords' hat I have is a panama straw from the '50s, believe it or not. The Goodwill auction photos were so bad, I couldn't tell what kind of a hat this blue thing was.

    What are you wearing today??

See, I was *golfing* all afternoon (and it was a cold day) at the Riviera Country Club, which is owned by the Los Angeles Athletic Club. Then, I popped over at the Athletic Club for some drinks and a spot of gaming: http://adsla.org/info/content/february-18-casino-moderne

    What are you wearing today??

Okay, okay: it wasn't at a country estate, but at a 1920s-themed event at the Los Angeles Athletic Club. Tortuous reasoning can be used here: the Athletic Club (founded in 1880, so it's old) has a golf club (the Riviera Country Club) ... and that suit is appropriate for golfing. So there...

It was at a country estate, for Pete's sake.

So true. And sometimes, the more beat-up ones turn out to become your favorites. I once got a worn-out '40s Stetson Eagle in a lot which had a 'better' hat in it. I ended up falling for the Eagle!

The gamble paid off. As expected, three of the four are modern wool felts: on the cheap side, but would make decent costume fedoras. I'll give them away to a local Goodwill. But the BLUE one ... ah, well ... it's an early to mid 1930s "lords' hat", rolled raw-edge brim and all. Size 7 1/4...

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

And here it is, the $16 Goodwill auction find. On closer inspection, it’s not a “homdora” but a blue “lords’ hat”, rolled raw-edge brim and all.

BOTH SIDES OF THE TWEED! - Show us your tweed suits, sport coats and pants

Thanks! Getting the right pair of socks was a saga in itself. I wasn't able to get hold of the vintage "Alexander & Oviatt" ones on time, nor a pair in lovat blue. Turned out that American Apparel, of all places, had a great knee-high pair in beige with orange, blue, green and red flecks in...
