    The Artist

. My only regret: "The Artist" shot a scene in the Oviatt Building penthouse's master bedroom, but that scene ended up on the cutting room floor. Still, James Oviatt's spirit must be smiling from ear to ear: "The Artist" is the first 'Best Picture' movie to have been filmed in his building...

Maybe. Then again, 1940s-early '50s 'science fiction' ties always sell for high prices, and this particular one seems to be rarer than any Dali tie.

Adding 'edg-itude' to my list of likes! :eusa_clap

    Formal Wear Primer

' By far the best tuxedos worn at the Oscars ceremony this year: Tom Hanks's and Colin Firth's. Hanks's tuxedo in particular was outstandingly tailored to him.

1930-40's OVIATT'S NECK TIE EXCELLENT CONDITION

$132.50. I'm glad that years of being the lonely educator/cheerleader for "Oviatt's" history are finally bearing fruit.

Yet I've seen certain Dali ties fetch that price.

    The Artist

It was the right thing to do. Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford did so much for Hollywood's motion picture industry. For instance, Fairbanks founded the Academy's library and archives, and Pickford founded the first retirement home for Hollywood's aged. They raised the bar again and again.

    Brim edge, naked or covered?

That outstanding fedora of yours just changed my mind about bound brims. Thanks to it, I now like very thinly bound brims! Wonderful hat!!!

    Brim edge, naked or covered?

. Yes to raw, underwelt, overwelt, or Cavanagh edges. No bound brims, if you please.

    What are you wearing today??

    I second that view.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

Here's tit for tat: if a buyer waits, say, four days to pay the seller after the auction has ended, the seller can wait four days to ship the item after payment has been received.

I'd say that you should put it up on eBay as soon as possible, preferably while the other tie is still at auction.

Ebay Hats: Victories, Defeats, Gripes & Items of Interest

I hate that too (unless a seller says in the auction description that he/she ships within three days, or every Monday, etc.) I also dislike when buyers take days to send their Paypal payments.

    8 Panel Cap

. Actually, brim (visor) widths and lengths varied, even during the 1920s and '30s. Cap wearers had more than a few options in brim dimensions.

    1930's Flecked Tweed Sportcoat

Yes, it was common on pre-'30s American suits; by the '30s, rayon had replaced it. (Silk had always been around, but it was pricey.) Some non-American suits were made with alpaca mohair linings into the 1960s.
