An understanding of the media message

Yeah Lincsong, there was lots of less than innocent and ignorant stuff going on to feed sex researchers like Kinsey with lifetimes of material;)

Cool, more of our "tech generation" realizing value of face-to-face

I casually mentioned something on another forum concerning the casing stones on the Giza pyramids being finished to 1/100th of an inch tolerance. Some yahoo insisted that was impossible and demanded my source. I listed 2 books by reknown egyptologists published in 1910 and 1947. He demanded...

An understanding of the media message

Ah, the ad media. Ya gotta love 'em. They can create stand out commercials like the innovative new stuff for Target or something completely lame. I hear you, but hey Ford could have OK'ed their ad company's commercial portraying a family of chimpanzees illustrating how great the car was...

Sorry, I decided not to get involved with any new shows this season.:o

    Your dvd library.

I am odd man out cause I never felt the urge to purchase films in any format. The few I taped on VHS I found laying around years later never having been viewed.:eusa_doh: I also don't want/need any more collections of anything taking up space. I own a VHS of Frequency, a DVD of The Wild...

    Write what you know...

I have only written about WW 2, WW 2 air combat, air combat pre and post WW 2, and about the vehicles used. It's what I know so I won't be penning any harlequin romance novels any time soon:)

    Flags of our Fathers

There is simply no way to film an 'epic' anymore. It's one thing to have 1,000 extras march down a road as Romans or GIs but you can't recreate the vehicles and equipment on the mass scale that they were actually employed.

    The Gap and Audrey Hepburn...

I'd be curious to know if the commercial successfully stimulated sales of thin black pants.[huh]

My new pet hate in the city

I love escapism probably more than most but with all the "devices" at hand we're becoming a society of rude, autistic ghosts. Rude because we're not actively parcipating in life and culture in the present going about ignoring everything. Autistic because we are lulled into such a catatonic...

What do you love most about hats?

I assume you mean mostly fedoras. Anyhow I feel comfortable in them in just about any setting and I know I look good in them. I don't own a vintage suit either. I always wear one when I'm in the Packard so it sort of reinforces a vintage look for the observer.:)

How clearly do we really see 30s/40s/50s Style?

Great observation Matt! If we were to look back in just a year at what the media has chronicled we'd probably see tons of errors and inappropriate fashion that they touted as mainstream when in fact it was just hype. I'm surprised at candid shots from past eras showing the vast majority of...

    The Gap and Audrey Hepburn...

Hey speaking of commercials I'll bet you haven't noticed this. In the last probably 2 years max, there is, to me, a frustrating trend at foot. Notice during a commercial break that you will see a commercial followed by another different one and THEN they repeat the 1st commercial!! Do they...

    Why post non-golden age threads?

We live in the now of today. Actually many questions or polls are rather timeless in their content and could have been answered by regular folks now or 65 years ago with interesting results. I am one person who can "live" in yester-year for an entire day as I write accounts of pilots in WW 2...

    Time machine

I would like to observe many, many events during WW 2. Mostly I'd like to "ride along" with several aces during epic air battles.:)
