Tony, KDOC UHF 56 runs edited versions of the Carson shows mostly about 11PM on various nights. They go only 1/2 hour but are the usually the best segments from a show.
Our local UHF station runs half hour and hour long Hitchcock episodes nightly. They are quite entertaining all with that ironic Hitchcockian twist in the end.:)
Quigley has is right in my view. Any film even loosely based on historic events should be a spark for learned people to research more fully the true facts at their library or in many cases the History Channel these days.
Being a researcher/writer of historical warfare/combat events there is...
When we were slogging through the bush somewhere in S.E. Asia way back when our point man was "Viking," a 6'6" 245-lb. hulk that lived for a fight. He was merrily hacking throuh the vegitation with a machete in a machine-like rhythm when he suddenly came face to face with a king cobra at his...
The curious thing is that ALL of Asia Minor's people were considered Persians back then before Iran existed as such. And today the people of Jordan, Syria, Iraq etc., do not call themselves Persian- only Iranians do:eusa_doh: [huh]
I like wider brims than narrower but have more narrow ones. You need probably 3-4 colors to spread across use with all clothes. Crown height is less critical for me. I do only buy beaver felt, no wool. And by careful Ebaying I have never spent more than $20 for a hat with most at $10-15...
Acme you might consider a Colt Officers' Model 1911 or one of several non-Colt offerings in the same more compact size and caliber. I have a Star PD clone. Nothing stops like a .45 but any concealed carry of smaller caliber beats a knife at a gunfight.
I have a huge (about 2 1/2 scale miles of track) HO layout in my garage I built when I was a bit younger. Figure I ought to dismantle it and sell or give away the useable stuff as my close up vision no longer allows modeling. Patience is far thinner than it was too.[huh]
The fabric and even plywood covering of many WW 2 planes actually lended to their survival in that ordnance passed through doing no vital damage allowing them to keep going.;)
I believe I've seen that show too. It was a good one Part of the problem of depicting historical war events in the Pacific Theater has been a reluctance to portray the Japanese Army as the animals they were, with few exceptions. It's politically incorrect while the horrors of the Nazis...
I have been into PC entertainment titles, no X-box yet, since the beginning and reviewed many for publication. They can be addicting but they are immensely diversionary as well. In a game scenario you control things like you can't always in real life. If you find a really good title you think...
Being a writer on the subject of historical air combat I delve into the tactical aspects of history instead of simply the broad stategic view. As with your look at the battle for Iwo you'd want to find some personal accounts instead of an overview of the fighting.
