For those of you that listed this as one of your favourite series (including me). Being Human is back for another series on BBC3 this Sunday Night.
For those that haven't had the pleasure, it's the story of a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost who share a house. I know it sounds like a comedy...
I think what started out as a parent letting off steam to like minded people has opened up a can of worms. Whilst the systems we have in our schools are not perfect (and neither are individual teachers, we are all human), advocating violence as a first resort is not the answer.
As a parent...
I know where you are coming from, but that is just dangerous, out of proportion to the actual offence (messing with his hat, for goodness sake), and likely to get her son expelled permanently. I understand the temptation to 'sort it out' yourself and I would agree that a swift smack in the nose...
I LOVE Fright Night! What a fun film. It's very 80's, but in a good way and Roddie Mc Dowell is great. Not sure about Colin Farrell in the remake though...
Unfortunately, as much as I would like to say that clobbering this thug would work, it'll be difficult if he's a lot bigger than your son.
I would keep a log of any problems yourself and inform the school immediately of each and every one. This way the school can build up an accurate picture...
Well, I finished my vintage vogue hat, with thanks to crwritt for the pics of the back. What a piece of origami, and terrible instructions too! I'm quite pleased with the finished result (as a trial run) and will post some pictures soon.
Problems: the felt I used was very thin and doesn't hold...
Speaking as an ex shoe designer and long time shoe fitter I have the following advice:
Buy the right size! Too big and you will scrunch up your toes to keep them on, calusing callouses. If odd sized feet, buy to fit the larger (see below).
The width and especially toe shapes will probably be...
My son frequently breaks his falls with his head. He now has a permanent lump on his forehead. I asked him once why he didn't just put his hands out and he said, "I didn't want to hurt them!"
I really miss Late Night Horror Double Bill.
It was an education in good (and bad) horror. It was a real cinematic education and covered everything from Nosferatu and the classic horrors, through Hammer and the daft 50's creature features to the modern. Seeing The Wicker Man on late night BBC...
Most of the ones I can think of right now are from Withnail and I.
Uncle Monty: 'I'm preparing myself to forgive you...' (I use that quite a bit), Monty, again: 'Oh, he's so mauve...we don't know what he'll do next!'
Uncle Monty: 'Hare, here, hare?, etc
and of course the killer: 'MONTY...
They are both odd and eerie films. I first saw them on the Late Night Horror Double Bill on BBC2 when I was about 12 with my best friend. We were sleeping on her couch and were both half asleep when they were on and that added to the dreamlike quality they already have.
I meant that Gary could have interferred with the course of the war by giving the allies inteligence about the Germans, or by saving lives by knowing who was going to be killed in raids, etc.
Ooohh, I disagree! Whilst I agree the 'sequel' really has nothing to do with the original at all, I think it's actually better in some respects. Its's really a different animal entirely, a beautifully shot, atmospheric story about childhood and innocence.
I did't mean to watch Downton Abbey at all as the Edwardian era isn't really me, but after one episode I too was hooked. The cast is excellent, especially Maggie Smith, and the costumes were gorgeous!
Upstairs Downstairs looked beautiful, but I felt a little let down by the rather shallow...
I think it depends where you are. My husband dresses vintage and has a very large handlebar moustache and he has someone openly laughing at hih recently. Well, it was at aforesaid school, so I guess that says it all!
Mostly both men and women are complementary about his appearance. Men are...
It's like some weird kind of reverse snobbery. I was watching 'All That Heaven Allows' today, it's sad how that kind of catty keeping up (or in this case, down) with the Jones' attitude is still there. I get similar weird looks at my sons school, most likely because I'm not still in my pajamas...
