I would avoid Primark if I were you! Those pram-faced little madams will probably grow up to be lap dancers (with obvious apologies to any FL lapdancers out there...)
Either way, give it 5 years or so and they are the ones that will be sereptitiously asking 'you where you got that....'
crwritt- you are a saviour! Whilst I'm not sure my hat will ever look like the one on the packet at least I now have some idea of how to finish the blooming thing! It's such a fiddly hat and having no pic of the back is such a pain.
I'm glad I used cheap felt to try this one out! I'll post a...
I don't know many people that really like Robin Williams. Makes you wonder who pays to see his film!
Mind you, I do rather like him when he's playing creepy, as in Insomnia. He does that worryingly well.
It is indeed a mental puzzle - a puzzle that's driving me mental!
I think the problem lies in the picture on the pattern packet. I can see the remnant piece clearly in your pics, but it's not obvious at all on the packet picture.
I agree that James Cameron comes across as a smug jerk, and I think Titanic was a rotten film that trivialised the deaths of hundreds, but Aliens is a GREAT MOVIE!
I'm just starting out with this pattern. Can anyone advise me - when it says 'remnant' for the oval pattern piece at the start of the instructions - what does this mean? Any material at all, or is it all made of felt (as it looks in the pictures)?
I thought, it's only 4 pieces, how hard can...
Goodnight Sweetheart is enjoyably goofy. The later ones where her befriends and influences Noel Coward are a hoot, ditto the one where he gleefuly nicks all of Elton John's songs and sings them in a 40's stylee!
I think one of the biggest problems is the shoddy manufacturing quality of most items these days. Nothing is built to last. I am amazed if a microwave lasts 18 months, ditto a washing machine, etc. My bl**dy expensive 160GB ipod lasted 2 years before the hard-drive packed up. most of these...
Just watched the new Sherlock Holmes. Not bad, quite a good feel, although I was distracted from the 'plot' by spotting the filming locations I knew well, Greenwich Naval College (VERY overused location for peiod shoots), St Georges Hall (gorgeous) and Stanley Dock in Liverpool.
Of the recent...
I don't have much of on opportunity to wear pencil skirts in my job, sadly, but I did recently buy a couple of thick jersey high waisted pencil/tube skirts in the sale at Warehouse. They're slightly more 80's than 40's but are incredibly comfortable and flattering on and can be dressed up with...
Ahh! If anyone else has made anything from this pattern, please do post the pics!
I have this pattern too and have made the 'halo' hat (as this was the easiest!). The shape looked ok, but the 'felt' I used was just awful, really cheap. It was jsut what I could get hold of at short notice to...
Just watched Terrence Davies's 'Of Time and the City'. A rather lovely love letter to a city.
On New Years Eve I introduced my 11 year old son to 'Night Of The Demon' with Dana Andrews and Peggy Cummings. A great film, I first saw it at about his age and loved it (even the slightly shonky...
My husband's made-to-measure tweed suit was from asuitthatfits.com (hope that's right, but you could google it if not).
They have a travelling tailor that roams the UK and takes your measurements and discusses what you want from a 'menu'. He got a lovely vintage styled 4 button 3 peice suit...
