These are great impressions, thank you for sharing! Are there any patterns in the magazines as well? I got some German mid 50s men's tailoring magazines, but unfortunately they don't have patterns - just some descriptions like the ones you posted. I'd like to make something for my man once... -

Long Vintage Hair
I took that same diagram plus some photos of Lauren Bacall and Rita Hayworth to my hairdresser but she didn't really have any idea what I wanted. She gave me a layered cut with a soft U-shape. But with this cut, the curls didn't come out quite right. Psycho Sue gave me some ideas what went wrong... -

Thanks for your congrats, ladies! Makes me enjoy it even more! :o Some of the pattern cards have been cut out, but they are kept in a little pocket in the back of the book. I love the idea that my aunt's aunt (that's where the book originally came from) made the dresses and wore them. I wonder...- wahine

Just found another one on ebay (art.no. 270656360170, comes with measure). It says "from around 1920" which is not true, of course - It's the same edition I have, around 1940. The auction ends in 22 hours and is currently at 25,50 Euro.- wahine

No, I just improvised. A rectangle, two circles, another smaller longer rectangle made into a little bag and 7 pom poms, all sewn together - that was about it. ;) But I got to admit that it's sort of a prototype. I didnt think about how to close it properly and what to take for a lining before...- wahine

I tried one of the shellac type - it still came off in just no time! I guess I'm simply no lipstick person. :( (to be honest, my constant nose blowing - due to being allergic to pretty much everything you can imagine - might be a reason... lol ) -

That looks cute, congrats! :) But can I ask a (probably stupid) question: What makes the difference between a white dress and a nurse's uniform? Are there any vital differences between a uniform pattern and a regular dress pattern? Is the little cap in the pattern, too?- wahine

Congrats to your great buys! I got to admit I kinda envy you for the existence of "thrift shops". We don't really have that in Germany. Of course, there are some tiny shops for used stuff, but they get less and less and the ones that still exist mostly sell modern fashion brands at high prices...- wahine
