Snowdrop, I remember those light bulb blowing. But now those times are over since the light bulb times are over, too (EU law bans them more and more now; I have only one left in my place).
NancyLouise, your back-to-the-factory theory absolutely makes sense! For some reason, it doesn't...
There is a fairy tale about pixies coming at night and cleaning up the mess in your house.
Well, to my house they come and make the mess even worse.
And, the most shocking thing: They take my bobby pins!
Every month, I buy new ones but each time I look into my little bobby pin box, there...
What a nice idea for a thread!
Bette (strange thing is - at first, I didn't like her at all, but now I simply adore her)
Kathrine, Kathrine, Kathrine!
MMMMarilyn!
and a modern one: always had a crush on Drew Barrymore
Odile, you look absolutely stunning!!
I just gaped and went "WOW"! The hat, dress, and make-up go together so well, nowhere near ridiculous! Where did you get that dress?
Also love your kitchen furniture, I dream of having a fifties intérieur as well.
Really? wow, what a coincidence! I would love to see a picture of you wearing it, it must be so much fun!
Don't get me wrong: having it posted in this thread does not necessarily mean I wouldn't wear it myself! :D
I have small green felt hat with a teeny weeny pinky bird on it and a big pink...
As chance will have it, there is a brand new product in Germany - a spray on dry shampoo, not especially for the dark haired, but sooo much better and even cheaper then the odd smelling white powdery stuff that I tried before. In case any of you German or Austrian girls is interested: it's Balea...
Does any of you ladies have a printable diagram or picture where it is to be seen how to cut a middy / middy plus / femme fatale cut? I'm not talking of the regular diagram that only shows the back of the head and a sketch of the "hair shape", but a picture that shows the act of cutting itself...
I think about trying to find talcum powder for dark skin and try to use that. Unfortunately, I can't find that, too. There must be a product for dark skinned ladies?! Well, not in Germany, but in the UK? Any idea anyone?
Thank you for this hint! Unfortunately, the Batiste shop does not send abroad. Looking up the product on ebay, nobody offers to send it anywhere out of the UK. Sellers write:
"THIS ITEM CANNOT BE SHIPPED TO THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS:
OUT OF UK
HIGHLANDS
... "
"**PLEASE NOTE THAT WE CANNOT...
Miss Golightly, I'm totally envious about that cabinet! Please let us know in what condition it arrives and maybe post some more pics once you have it at home. Congrats for that wonderful piece!
dry shampoo on dark hair?
I wonder how you dark haired girls get along with dry shampoo? Having dark brown hair, I have problems with the regular (white) dry shampoo. It takes me virtually forever to brush it out and afterwards, my brush looks ready for the garbage.
Honestly, I have a brush...
Ladies, this thread really made my day! It's so much fun to look at the weird and not-so-weird dresses, thank you all!
I found two more 1940s hats.
Hitchcock's inspiration (I'm not sure if I should love it or be scared of it):
Gardening's fun (just add some whipped cream - yumm!)...
Thank you for the idea, the saleslady gave me the same advice. I was a bit hesitant because the insole is almost the same price as the shoe (only because the shoe was a cheap half price). Maybe I will try it anyway.
Annet, your new Noa shoes are really cute!
I just wish I could wear ankle...
Actually, you didn't have to be a millionaire. As far as I know, it was sold for $ 27,500.
Quite a bargain, mh?
But even more than a million was paid for her famous Happy Birthday Mr president dress:
sorry for the OT (it's not a film costume)
Looking for some basic pumps that are easy to combine, I found these today:
When I came home, I was surprised to find that they are black (they looked dark brown in the store) but I think they are still nice.
I also found these and simply love them!
They look a bit greyish in the...
Marla, that sounds like a nice idea, especially since I wouldn't have to make any alterations. Never thought of wearing it with saddlebacks (maybe because I don't have any yet), but it sounds really nice! I thought about combining it with white capri pants (which I have) but that would be only a...
Frenchy, I recently got some regular hairnets that are really fine and almost invisible. When my boyfriend saw me wearing one like a snood for the first time, he said: "Oh, you look just like my grandma!"
Not really a nice thing to hear but I'll try to wear them with flowers or...
