It is the November, 1936 edition, and lacks its covers, pages 1-6, 139/40, 151/2, 157/8, 169/70, 185/6, and 239 on
9/10, 35/36, 37/38, 201/2 are torn or cut with some lacks
pages 7/8, 21/22, 41/42, 117/8, 165/66 have 3"+ tears
pages 230-on are quite creased

BK, this is a damaged copy, sans front cover and several pages, with other pages torn or otherwise damaged. I got it for the sake of the plates, to frame them - I wouldn't cannibalise a good copy.

Mine were hallmarked, which is the only way I know of to tell, apart from taking them to a jeweller for testing. Sometimes the item may be marked 375, 750, 800, 925 etc., or "Sterling" in the case of silver, which serves a similar function to hallmarking in that it shows the precious...

9ct kidney-shaped (don't ask me why, but I like them)
Simple MoP and gilt snaps
"Pearloid" snaps, apparently, with an attractive star-type pattern in the centre - a bit wobbly, unfortunately
I assume that these are either enamel or celluloid...
It's also worth thinking about registering with Auctiva or similar, simply for the fact that they offer free photo uploads. Good luck with the auction!
You should find, at least, that shoe trees will preserve the shape of your shoes, reducing their tendency to crease and, subsequently, to crack along the crease lines.
