My sister has had pure white hair since she was in her very early 30's and had always hated it. I have been trying to get my hair that colour for years! Not fair! She keeps dying it darker, the fool!
My hair is now done, by the way. I think the jury's out. I love the blonde (although it's not...
Nick - he used 60/40 beeswax and vaseline with a litle bay rum for scent. He said it gives a glossy, quite stiff finish (he described it as 'Hercule Poirot'), so good for shaping and holding. He's got a fair sized handlebar, it varies from medium to the size of Undertows avatar. He didn't use...
My mum had a thing about hiding money and bits of (usually worthless) jewellery in very odd places. Under the carpet being one of them. Works reasonably well for notes, but not so well for watches!
Thanks C-dot. I'm on my way to the choppers now so wish me luck! My son has just said, 'don't do it dark mum, it's nice as it is!' Thanks son, for making me feel good and bad at the same time!
I'm about to go under the dye brush and scissors again tomorrow and am getting the Mallen Streak!
I have done this before several years ago and eventually dyed it myself. My hair is quite fragile as it's fine anyway and at the moment has a lot of very light highlights so I'm more concerned...
Aha, thanks C-dot! I'd quite forgotten about that thread, I shall go to it forthwith.....
BTW: I do have a couple of questions about toners, etc, so if any of you see this please come with me to the other thread and help if you can!
See you there!
Well, I feel like a change now that the great British *summer* (HA!) is now officially over and I'm off to the hairdressers tomorrow to get my bobbed blonde hair dyed dark with a platinum streak. I'm naturally a darkish blonde but at the moment it's very highlighted and I feel bland rather than...
I have just been to an antiques fair and have bought:
A new look jacket, it's dark blue grossgrain with a velver collar and cuffs and appears to be handmade
A wool late 40's jacket and
A stripey lat 50's jacket
An oval Edwardian mirror
The jackets were 3 for £36 and the mirroe was £7! The...
I have never lived in a small town and although I have often fancied the idea, I really don't think I'd be able to hack it. I have lived in Liverpool then London and now Chester, and although it's still a city I find here to be quite provincial enough! I like lots of people and things to do and...
Aha, I think you may be right, thanks lolly! I'm surprised another biopic hasn't been made since, she's such an interesting lady. But who would play her?
Apologies lolly, you seem to have come out as a laugh! That's quite nice, though...
It's all about knowing yourself, and I think that comes with age. I have a much clearer view of what suits me now than I did at 20. When I'm Helen Mirren's age I think I will have it cracked!
Lets also not forget, a lot of women in Hollywood look marvellous for 'their age' with an awful lot...
I actually have the baby gas mask, I take it to WWII re-enactment events with my adult ones. They are quite something, and extremely heavy - imagine having twins!
My eyebrows are very sparse and fair and hard to see at all without make up, so I use an angled brow brush and pencil the rest in (quite a strong 40/50's shape). I had real trouble finding a brow brush, so I cut down an artists brush to shape myself.
Even if my house was on fire I think I would...
