I used to be a very defined hourglass, not so much since I had two kids, so fitted 40's to very early 50's fits me best. Although I do like the 50's at 5ft 2 with big hips, more of a pear these days, full circle skirts swamp me.
Bias cut 30's dresses, although beautiful, make me look huuuuge!
I think it's more about finding a style and a cut of clothes that suit you and your personality, whether thats punk, classic, mod, whatever. Trying to look 20 years younger than you are is always going to be a strain and look vaguely ridiculous, thats when you get problems!
I think the worst thing is, it's actually quite boring. The characters are unconvincing, especially the main two, or irritating (the main two again). I find myself watching it just to pull it apart. Anna Chancellor is ace though, as always.
You look lovely Miss G! Please put up more of your pics, we all know what a fabulous wardrobe you have and it'd be nice to see them on you and not just a mannequin.
Anyone else still sticking with The Hour on BBC2? I feel I've come this far I may as well see it through!
I have to be honest, I haven't been very impressed.
I don't think it matters musch to me. I always seem to spend at leat 15 minutes longer than the time I should getting ready, whether it's vintage or modern!
That ad for Cherry Blossom shoe polish is beyond tenuous!
I may have to try out some of the food ideas on my kids. I think some vegetable jellys with olives poking out like eyeballs, washed down with the milk and Seven-Up combo....
The question is: will this sort of diet turn them into Chubbies???
Isis - I have just posted in another bit of the forum about your hat before seeing this post! I will now go back and read your guide.
And, I will, eventually post some pics (when I work out how to!)Mine looks a little different from yours, probably the materials (and all that stiffner!!) I...
Isis - I made that Vintage Vogue hat you are wearing in yout avatar too - and in the same green!
I made mine in a really thin felt and I felt it wasn't stiff enough to hold it's shape so I sprayed it with stiffner and it's now like cardboard (and my bath has a nasty film on now too)! What is...
Oohh! I love that film! I remember seeing it on the telly when I was a teenager and just loving it. It's still a relevent story today, I'm surprised someone hasn't remade it.
I have just got back from a couple of weeks in Italy and this is the darkest I have ever been. Well, ok, it wouldn't look that tanned to most, but to me it's unusual. And I have to say that I really don't think it suits me at all, my skin looks 'tired' and in need of 'a good wash'!
I'm...
